Overview

In Forty 2 Days we cheered as we learned of Lana’s opportunity for a second chance to put things right with our wounded hero, Blake. We read with joy at the news of baby Sorab’s birth, and with tension in our bodies as the spirited Lana fought and finally overcame the might of Blake’s powerful family to win the heart of the man she adored.

But Lana still needs answers to many burning questions?
The secrets are many and tangled? Will she get the answers she seeks?

Blake finally lays it on the line to Victoria, and declares his true love for Lana, but will that be the end of the matter?

Then there is the re-appearance of Marcus.

Can Lana keep her resolve and overcome all obstacles to claim her man forever?

My Thoughts

I like where this story is taking us – it’s not all sunshine and daisies yet for this family and i think that it’s what makes you want to keep on reading and be invested.  If you remember – we left off when things were quite dicey – meaning that there was death and fear and loathing all around, and Blake’s goal was to rescue Lana, keep her safe and some how disengage himself from the El which is something that we see can’t be done – or can’t be done easily.

The journey that we go on in this 3rd installment is passionate – Lana and Blake have something amazing and strong and it’s nice to see that there doesn’t have to be something that physically wrenches them apart in each installment to keep things moving at a nice pace.  In this case, we have the burden that Blake holds onto – in keeping his family safe since he doesn’t know what’s going to happen to him given his role as head of the secret brotherhood.  All he wants is for Lana and Sorab to be safe and to know that they are going to be taken care of but knowing Lana as we do, we know that she’s not going to be ok with any of this.

The other complexities that come with this story are the Barringtons.  We know that Marcus has it out for Lana – assuming that she’s a gold digger and doesn’t truly love Blake.  Even if she does, i’m not sure that he even cares.  Blake sets Lana up to go toe to to with Marcus in the hopes that she’s find that she’s strong and brave and will be able to manage on her own in his family.  This sets up for something that i’m sure we’ll see in the future – with Lana and Blake’s mom.  He’s basically said that Lana will be hated and it will be interesting to see what lengths everyone goes to in order to make their point.  Which then raises the question around Victoria and what she’ll do.  We saw a dark side to her of the woman scorned, and i have a feeling that she’s going to partner up with Marcus and the mother to rip apart the happy couple or take their son and do some damage there.

So many places that my mind is going – but all the while, we see that the heat and passion in the relationship sis still as strong as it always was.  that’s the nice thing here – that Lana and Blake still can’t keep their hands off one another, and Ms. LeCarre really paints the amazingly detailed picture of each scene.  It’s hot without being raunchy and you ALWAYS get the love and passion throughout it all.  (aside from the prologue that we had – of the jump into the future i think – where it’s a different Lana/Blake dynamic than we’ve seen before).

Now that we’ve seen where this story is heading, i have a feeling that things will continue to be dicey, and i’ll be amazed if plans stay intact.  I can’t wait to get into Seduce Me to see what secrets will be revealed, by whom, and what it will mean for the happy family.
