Overview
Magic is an illusion. It doesn’t really exist. Or does it?
A horrible car accident destroys Dolores Reynard’s life. But instead of waking up in a hospital bed, she awakens in a teenager’s body. Soon, she discovers she is at the heart of the murderous mystery surrounding the death of Mona, the young girl whose body she occupies. Caught between an evil greater than she ever imagined and a wizard who heals her tattered heart, she is forced to play a dangerous game of intrigue in the hopes of finding a way to return to her previous life.
Will magic be her ally, or will it lead to her demise once and for all.
My Thoughts
This story is so different from what i’ve been reading lately that it was a welcome change. what we have here is an interesting story of someone coming to terms with a situation that’s been bestowed on them, all the while trying to hold onto the past while dealing with feelings and emotions of the present. We get a bit of ‘The Host’ in here with the combination and merging of souls/bodies, but as you guys all know, i really try not to draw comparisons between books/series, so that’s where this will end.
Throughout this story we’re watching Dolores go thorough the roller coaster of dealing with the life of the body that she’s now in, and understanding what the means for her given that she’s thrown into those circumstances. With the parallel of wanting to sort out the situation that she’s been put into, and the emotional ties that are building quickly, she wants to be back to her old life. The question really becomes which life is truly hers and which is she going to make hers. what will that mean for all involved and what will the resolution be.
I’m new to this author so i wasn’t really sure where we’d be taken, but i think that the journey was well worth it. I can’t say that philosophical balance discussions are really my genre, but this story kept me intrigued and engaged and i think that says something for Ms. Bazzi. If you get a chance to read this book – you should.
