For Olivia Bentley, Lucky Harbor is more than the town where she runs her new vintage shop. It’s the place where folks are friendly to strangers-and nobody knows her real name. Olivia does a good job of keeping her past buried, not getting too cozy with anyone . . . until she sees a man drowning. Suddenly she’s rushing into the surf, getting up close and personal with the hottest guy she’s ever laid hands on.

Charter boat captain Cole Donovan has no problem with a gorgeous woman throwing her arms around his neck in an effort to “save” him. In fact, he’d like to spend a lot more time skin-to-skin with Olivia. He’s just not expecting that real trouble is about to come her way. Will it bring her deeper into Cole’s heart, or will it be the end of Olivia’s days in little Lucky Harbor?

And two—holy shit—he realized she was completely, totally, one hundred percent naked beneath the layer of blankets.

And pissed. “Yyyour pants!” she gasped. “Thththey’re cccold!”

“Sorry, but I’m trying to do the right thing here,” he said through clenched teeth. Jesus. He couldn’t see a thing below her neck, but he could sure as hell feel her. His hands were on her hip and low on her back, respectively, not touching anything he shouldn’t be, but damn she was soft, and at the feel of her, his brain clicked off. Just completely flatlined.

“Dry off,” Cole said, and stepped back from Olivia.

She nodded but didn’t move.

“Olivia?” he asked.

Her face was a mask of misery. “Mmmy arms won’t wwwork.”

Shit. He quickly and gently pushed her back down to the bench, sat at her side, and began to pile blankets over the top of them both.

“Wwhat are you ddoing?”

“Sharing my body heat,” he said.

“I cccan’t feel any hhheat.”

“You will.” Beneath the blankets, he reached for the towel she still had wrapped around her. “Don’t freak,” he warned. “I’m just going to remove the wet towel and pull you into me.”

She opened her mouth, but using her sluggishness to his benefit, Cole quicklystripped the towel away from her, wrapping his arms around her, pulling her into him as two things happened simultaneously. One, she squeaked. Probably trying to formulate her next threat.

Review: The Scorch Trials (The Maze Runner #2) by James Dashner

Title: The Scorch Trials
Author: James Dashner
Publisher/Year: Random House 9/13/11
Length: 379
Series: The Maze Runner #2

olving the Maze was supposed to be the end.

Thomas was sure that escape from the Maze would mean freedom for him and the Gladers. But WICKED isn’t done yet. Phase Two has just begun. The Scorch.

There are no rules. There is no help. You either make it or you die.

The Gladers have two weeks to cross through the Scorch—the most burned-out section of the world. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them.

Friendships will be tested. Loyalties will be broken. All bets are off.

There are others now. Their survival depends on the Gladers’ destruction—and they’re determined to survive.

My Thoughts

So, to be completely honest, i picked up this book over a year ago and tried to read it, after i LOVED the Maze Runner.  i got about 60 pages in (and that took me 2 weeks which is very abnormal for me) and i put it down because i just could NOT get into it.  So, here we are – a while later and i’ve picked up the series again after seeing the movie The Maze Runner since i like to compare what changes were made.

It took me just about a day to re-read book 1 and remind myself why i loved it so much and then i said that i’d give it another go at book 2 – The Scorch Trials, and i have to say, i don’t know if it’s my mindset, my ability to focus, or it was just the right time, but it took me just over a day to read this book, and i really enjoyed it.

From the end of TMR – we knew that things were just getting started for the Gladers – while they felt that they were rescued and somewhat safe – they were in the hands of some folks that they weren’t sure that they could trust and realized that there really wasn’t anyone that they could trust – the rescuers or Wicked or anyone.

They arrive at a building of sorts where they are given food, clothes, time to rest which is needed after their escape from the Maze and the crazy ride to the campus, encounters Cranks – people who had been infected with The Flare and who’s brains were going crazy.

Once at the building, Theresa’s taken from the boys and that’s never good.  Upon waking up the next morning, they realize that they have been given tattoos noting them as Group A and some have designations like Minoh – The Leader and Thomas ‘To be killed by Group B’ .  Along with this, There’s a plaque outside there’s door that says ‘The Betrayer’ however….we learn that she’s not in the room.  there’s a boy named Aris in her place.  and he’s from Group B….that turns out to be all girls.  So a parallel of sorts.

So, along with the underlying plot of survival, we see the Thomas/Theresa dynamic get to be even more complicated.  Part of me the first time though that Theresa was a dream.  although we quickly learn that’s not the case.

A man shows up and gives them the direction to go through a transport between 6 and 605 the next morning and they have 2 wees to make it to a ‘safe haven’ where they will get the cure for The Flare – which they’ve all been infected with.

The bulk of this story takes us through the scorch – the journey with the groups to get to the haven – although we don’t truly encounter Group B until about 1/2 way through.  There’s a lot of betrayal though, Thomas who’s tried his best to hold onto the fact that he thinks he and Theresa had something great – well, she puts that on the line and some of the betrayals that she’s done.  I don’t know about anyone else, but while the Gladers were told to believe none of what they see and hear, i think that it’s hard to follow that, and i’m still not sold on what’s happened in the end – which is a great twist!

Along the journey, they also pick up Brenda and Jorge who are 2 cranks that help them somewhat through the city to get to where they need to go.  What first throws me off though is that when Thomas is hurt, she’s the one that made a call – and no one really questioned how that happened.  She says ‘i didn’t know what to do’ or something like that – but it’s all written off as Wicked just didn’t want anything to happen to Thomas.  This proves me a little correct as the story goes on, but i think that we’re going to see a lot more of her and Jorg as the series continues.

So where we are left in this 2nd installment is that some of A and B have made it to the Safe Haven and it’ll be up to them to survive from there since i think they are going to quickly see that the trials are not yet over.  What role will Aris and Theresa play in things, will Thomas be able to forgive Theresa – what’s Brenda’s role and what about Minoh/Newt?  I love those guys and can’t wait to see them step up too.

Now it’s on the The Death Cure – book 3 and i’ll hopefully find that it’s easier to read now than what i’d expected from before.  Enjoy!

Review: The Affair: Soon (The Affair Week 2) by Beth Kery

Title: The Affair:  Soon
Author: Beth Kery
Publisher/Year: Penguin Group 9/22/14
Length: 73
Series: The Affair #2

The Affair continues from New York Times bestselling author Beth Kery as a man’s secret leaves an innocent woman exposed, vulnerable, and desperate…

The Affair Week Two

Emma is unlike anyone he’s ever known, fresh and surprising, sweet yet intensely sensual. He knew he shouldn’t touch Emma but he’s a Montand, after all. Strong sexual appetites and selfishness run in his blood—no matter how much he’d wish otherwise…for Emma’s sake.

Emma can’t help but feel somewhat compromised by the impulsive sexual tryst she shared with her billionaire employer but Emma has to admit…she wanted it. Besides, working in Montand’s sprawling mansion as a hospice nurse to Montand’s stepmother, Emma anticipated a few surprises. Still, she never expected what came next: an exquisite gift, an apology and a proposition—a sexual affair that promises to fulfill every fantasy Emma ever had. And a few she never dared imagine.

But a deathbed revelation from Montand’s stepmother is about to shatter every illusion Emma had about her position at the Breakers, her future with Montand, and her own innocence.

My Thoughts

Coming out of the first few chapters, there was a lot going on for Emma – her boyfriend and sister hooked up, she’s discovered an attraction with Michael who’s the dark and standoffish step-son who’s paying for the care of her patient – Cristina who’s on her death bed.  Ok – all caught up.

So in this second installment, the questions that we’re left to ponder are what will come of the sister/boyfriend hook up – and what will that mean for Emma.  From what we saw in Emma’s reaction – while she feels betrayed, she doesn’t really care.  Add on her sparks with Michael, and well – you know that it’s going to be great.

So we see in these next chapters the dynamic growing between Michael and Emma.  We know that he thinks he’s wrong and bad for her, yet Emma really wants to see what the feelings mean.  Typical to the genre – we see that they get a hint and taste of their passion, and then someone flees  this time it’s Michael.  He puts some distance between them and leaves Emma off balance.  I think that we’ll begin to see something real happen here, but for now we just get a lot of chemistry that’s really hot and intense.

The other bit to the story is Cristina – she seems to have a soft spot for Emma and I’d love to know more about that.  I don’t know that we’ll get the chance though given how sick she is.  I also wonder about the connection and relationship with her and her stepson.  we know that they clearly don’t get along or even like each other, but i’m sure there’s a story there and it’ll be interesting to see how and when the details come out.

So, i guess it’s a wait until next Tuesday to see what comes next in week 3, and i for one have been sucked into these characters.  I’m not sure about anyone else, but i’m not quite decided on what i think about Amanda and Colin and i can’t wait to see what our author comes up for those two.  Enjoy!

Review: Ignited (Most Wanted #3) by J Kenner

Title: Ignited
Author: J Kenner
Publisher/Year: Random House Publishing 9/9/14
Length: 320
Series: Most Wanted #3

He promised to take me as far as I could go—and I wanted to go to the edge.
My whole life has been a cover, a con, a lie. I was born into the grift, raised on the thrill of playing someone I’m not. As a rule, I never let anyone get too close—until Cole August makes it impossible for me to stay away.

Cole is tough, sexy, and intensely loyal, yet his secrets are dark and his scars run deep. Not many women can handle his past, or the truth behind his fierce demands. But something about him beckons me—and our desire is a game I must play.

I know he’s dangerous, that even his touch is trouble, but what is passion without a little risk?

My Thoughts

Well, i love this series, and i love that we got to see more about Cole and his background, while still focusing quite a bit on Kat – who continues to intrigue me.  We’ve spent quite some time with Evan/Angie, Tyler/Sloane and now it’s time to meet the third knight.

In this story, we focus quite a bit on Kat – who we know from other installments as the remaining one in the trio of women.  She’s got an eclectic background, one that really suits the knights given that they haven’t always been on the up and up, and what we know of Jahn, (Angie’s uncle), there’s a lot of sordid stuff that went on that makes Kat a great addition.  It’s interesting because while she’s tried so hard to keep her backgroudn a secret, just about everyone knew that she wasn’t exactly what she seemed.

Then there’s Cole – the guy that we’ve admired throughout the series, and waited patiently to get his saga completed.  He’s clearly had a rough life so far, since we know that he met the guys at a Scared Straight camp, and Kat somehow manages to get the story from him over time.

The expected bits of course are that there’s been a clear attraction between Cole and Kat, for years now, but neither has acted on it.  Kat’s been uncertain of Cole’s feelings, and it takes her some time to even come to terms with what it is that she wants from him.  Honestly, she thinks that it’s just an itch that she needs to scratch and we see her try to up her game in the hopes of accomplishing that. It’s only when she’s at the Gallery that Cole has that she begins to take it to the next level, after getting hints and sparks that there’s more between them.  It’s also the allure of a painting that she’s not sure what draws her in, but there’s something.  (Only to learn that not only is she the muse for it and many many more, but that Cole’s the artist).

So we go on a bit of a journey with these 2, as they try to figure out what they can be to each other, and if they can be something to each other – but if that wasn’t enough, there’s even more coming into the mix.  We know that Kat’s back story included her father who taught her how to run cons, and while that’s not her life anymore, it’s somewhat his.  He’s crossed the wrong person, goes to Kat for help, who in turn goes to Cole, ad things get dicey.

So, what we have here is hot, passionate with a fair share of kink – and some tension as we don’t know who’s going to come out unscathed, alive and well, without fear of repercussions.

The other nice thing about this story is that we have a reappearance of Damian and Nikki from ‘The Stark Trilogy’.  I love when there’s cross-over and in this case it wasn’t just nice, it was useful.  We get to see a bit of their story continue, while seeing Damian able to come in and lend a hand to Cole – someone who he met years and years ago.

So, what we’re left with in this installment is the question of what will push Cole and Kat apart, who or what will be able to bring them back together, what will happen to Kat’s father, and what will that mean for Kat in the long run.  It’s sweet and suspenseful for a hot second, and perfectly done in the style that we’ve come to love and expect from our lovely author.  I can’t wait to see what comes next and I kind of hope that we get a novella at least on Flynn.  he needs his own story i think!

Book Tour / Cover Reveal: Under My Skin (Bistro La Boheme #2) by Alix Nichols

Title: Under My Skin
Author: Alix Nichols
Publisher/Year: 10/11/14
Length: 130
Series: Bistro La Boheme #2

UNDER MY SKIN is the second novel in the addictive BISTRO LA BOHEME series. This delightful Parisian version of “Four Weddings and a Funeral” will entertain you with a gripping story, endearing characters and sizzling romance.

A tall well-dressed guy entered the bistro, dripping rain and hotness. He stopped by the door and surveyed the room searching for someone, his gaze lingering on the females…until it met Jeanne’s. He beamed and walked toward her, his eyes trained on her and full of warmth. Did he know her? Was she supposed to know him?

Feisty bartender Jeanne and geek-turned-hottie Mat embark on an emotional and sensual roller coaster, as their paths cross at an engagement party, a baptism and a wedding… not counting all the other times they “accidentally” run into each other.

And miserably fail to behave with propriety.

But Mat is an ambitious politician running for mayor of his hometown and going steady with an exquisite woman. He knows exactly where he wants to be five years from now.

Falling for Jeanne all over again is definitely NOT part of his plan.

A tall well-dressed guy entered the bistro, dripping rain and hotness. He stopped by the door and surveyed the room. Must be looking for Rob, Jeanne thought. She tried to peel her gaze off him and focus on the conversation around her. Easier said than done. Aside from his general attractiveness, the stranger was full of contrasts that mesmerized her.

He had long legs and narrow hips, yet his upper body was deliciously brawny. The poor fellow must have a hard time finding suits that fit. Speaking of suits, his was a sleek number cut from the finest, smoothest wool to grace La Bohème on her watch. The trendy jacket overlaid the lines of his V-shaped torso as if it were tailor-made. Which it probably was. On top of all that, his friendly clean-shaven face sported a masculine nose and a firm jawline.
Just as the mysterious hunk turned to survey her side of the room, Rob approached him and gave him a big hug. “I’m so glad you made it! It wouldn’t have been a proper engagement party without my future best man.”

“It’s a matter of having one’s priorities straight,” the hunk said. “I told the boss I was leaving at five thirty, whether we were finished or not.”

His crooked smile sent a couple of Jeanne’s internal organs into a happy little somersault.

“That’s the spirit, man.” Rob grinned.

The guy winked. “Having Mom as my boss does have its perks. Where’s Lena, by the way?”

“Fetching her folks. They should be here in half an hour.” Rob patted him on the shoulder. “Now, why don’t you give me your wet jacket and go get yourself a drink. The party doesn’t officially begin until eight thirty, so you can chill and talk to the people you know.”

The hunk removed his jacket, uncovering an expensive-looking shirt–and a better view of his broad chest.

Jeanne swallowed. Was this guy real?

Rob took the wet garment from him and walked away. And then something weird happened. The hottie remained by the door instead of walking toward the guests or the bar. He looked around the room again as if searching for someone–his gaze lingering on the females until it met Jeanne’s. He beamed and walked toward her, his eyes trained on her and full of warmth.

Does he know me? Do I know him?

It was downright impossible that she would forget a stud of this caliber, even if she had met him during her wild teens.

“Hi, Jeanne. Don’t you remember me?” he asked when he was close enough for her to discern the hint of five-o’clock shadow on his chiseled jaw.

“I’m sorry . . . Are you sure we’ve met?”

“Every day for almost two years.”

Righto. “Next you’ll tell me I used to go out with you,” she said tilting her head to the side.

“Unfortunately, you didn’t.” The dreamboat sounded genuinely sorry. “But it wasn’t for my lack of trying. I spent most of my money eating at this bistro just so I could see you.”

She gave him a puzzled look. Who was he?

“OK, you really don’t remember me.” He bowed ceremoniously. “Mathieu Gérard, also known as Mat. I’m a friend of Rob’s. We studied together here in Paris a few years back.”

“Mat?” There was no way this guy was Mat. “You can’t be him. Mat was . . . he was . . .”

“Nothing like me?” he prompted, the corners of his mouth twitching.
To put it mildly.

About the Author:

I am an avid reader of chick lit, romance and fantasy, caffeine addict and a badge-wearing Mr. Darcy/Colin Firth fan.

I released my first book at the age of six. It had six postcard-size pages stitched together and bound in velvet paper. The book was titled “Eliza and Robert” and had atrocious mistakes in every single word. Some words were written in mirror image. Unintentionally. I remember being immensely proud of my creation.

Turns out there’s a remarkable constancy to my life: decades later, I still love the name Robert and the genre romance. As for my spelling and grammar, they are only marginally better than at age six (thank God for editors!).

I live and work in Paris, France. When not writing, I read romance (what else?) and spend time with my family.

Book Teaser: Honey Girl (Billionaire #2) by Juliette Jones

Title: Honey Girl
Author: Juliette Jones
Publisher/Year: Juliette Jones 9/30/14
Length: 39
Series: The Billionaire #2

The sexy saga of Lila and Alexander continues …

Alexander Wolfe is a billionaire whose priorities used to include work, money and total control. No longer. He now has only one obsession: his beautiful new fiancée Lila, whose combined innocence and sultry femininity drive him to the brink. Their attraction began as an uncontrollable lust and has bloomed into an all-encompassing love affair that awes them both. If Alexander could have it his way, he would confine Lila to his private penthouse and bask in the glow of her sensual charms day and night.

But when reality forces its way into Alexander and Lila’s private world in the form of Alexander’s supermodel ex-girlfriend, Alexander’s brother Jake’s impending prison sentence, and a very persistent work colleague of Alexander’s – who just happened to be present at a recent wild night of poker that got a little out of control – things get complicated.

Will the drama drive them apart, or is Alexander and Lila’s love strong enough to get them to the altar?

Teaser Notes

Just so that i’m clear here, this is just the first chapter that i was able to get my hands on so far – in advance of the release in about 2 weeks and i’m excited to see what happens.  Coming off of the high that we had from Billionaire, the roller coaster for this couple, Lila and Alexander shows no sense of slowing down.  They are now more solid than ever in their relationship, and she’s about to start work for one of his companies.  The question becomes whether they’ll be able to make a working relationship work or if there’s going to be trouble in that sense.

The other exciting lead in with this first chapter is that we get more of Jake.  We know that he’s had his share of trouble in the past, and that’s going to all come to a head in this book i think.  We’re getting a tease of the lengths that Alexander will go to protect his brother, and i think that it means that Lila’s role and position in his life will be jeopardized.

So…true Juliette Jones form, we get some really heated scenes just in the first chapter.  the chemistry can be felt from pages away.  They can’t be apart from one another, and the way that their heat is written, you can’t help but to get swept in.

Anyhow – i don’t know how i’m going to last another 2 weeks, but i’ll manage some how until the full book comes out.  I hope you guys make it a point to get both book 1 and book 2!!

Review: You’ve Tantalized Me (The Affair #1) by Beth Kery

Title: The Affair:  You’ve Tantalized Me
Author: Beth Kery
Publisher/Year: Penguin Group 9/16/14
Length: 79
Series: The Affair #1

A young woman’s quiet life is upended when she meets the man of her forbidden dreams in the startling new novel from New York Times bestselling author Beth Kery. The Affair begins…

The Affair Week One

Innocent yet unconventional hospice nurse Emma Shore has secured a new position at The Breakers, the sprawling mansion of enigmatic and dangerously handsome racecar billionaire Michael Montand. Hired as caretaker for Montand’s stepmother, Emma expects few complications. But one night, lost in the mansion’s maze of corridors, she comes upon a woman and a man she can’t identify engaged in a raw, naked interlude of sexual subjugation. Silently, from the shadows, Emma watches—shocked, appalled, and unnervingly aroused.

But Emma wonders… if this mysterious stranger is not Montand, then who is it? And what other surprises are in store for her? Night after sleepless night, she’s considering the possibilities. And for the first time in her life, she’s not going to run away from them.

My Thoughts

Oh how i love the storeis that we get from Ms. Beth Kery and this first installment to the new series is setting things up in an interesting way.  We start off in meeting Emma who’s the leading lady here – she’s working as a hospice nurse for a wealthy family that has it’s own complexities which she’s slowly learning about.  This is a family that’s known for their car manufacturing, and with the stepson being the man in charge – at least of overseeing his step mother’s care (which is why Emma is there), we know that things will get interesting.

No one knows much about Mr Montrand – except that he keeps to himself, he tends to be very cold and distant and the only time that they ever hear of him having company are his ‘guests’.  This intrigues Emma, who we learn is one of those strong leading ladies who doesn’t like to just conform and follow rules.  She likes to think that she knows whats best and follows that path.

This is where she gets herself into trouble  just at the onset of things.  She decides that it’s more important to keep Cristina (her patient) happy than Mr. Martrand – so she opens the curtains in the room, which quickly prompts a call from the man of the house to close them.  She’s now on his radar – which isn’t necessarily a good thing as far as everyone who works there thinks.

Form there, we see the spark of Emma’s independence come out more – when she takes it upon herself to find another laundry room in the house to wash the linens when the one in her wing is broken.  It’s on this trip around the house that she stumbles upon a really racy scene between 2 unknowns – a man and a woman that she’s not sure of their identities yet she’s finding herself incredibly turned on.   It’s scenes like this in which our author really excels – giving you just a tease of things and leading you down the heated path that hints at what may come.

If that weren’t enough, she is called into Mr Matrands office and that’s when the story takes it’s more complex turn, joining these 2 face to face and setting the wheels in motion for what can in store for them. I honestly can’t wait!

In addition to all that, we see that Emma’s ‘non work’ life is a bit on the rocky path.  She’s been with her boyfriend Colin for 2 years now and it’s safe but she’s not sure if it’s too ‘blah’ for her.  It’s when something puts a crimp in things that shre’s really forced to open her eyes on what’s best for her.  I’m not at all surprised about the turn of events, but i think that we’ll have to wait and see how it pans out in the story since this can’t be the last that we hear about it.

so…now the wait is on for next Tuesday when we get to see what happens in book2.  i feel like i’m watching a TV show that i can’t get enough of when we have these weekly installments.  enjoy!

When Lacey’s boyfriend steals her meager life savings and hits her for questioning him, it’s the last straw. She skips town in her rustheap of a car – which she can only pray will get her as far as Texas. And it does. Spluttering to a final stop just as she crosses the border. But when two ultra-hot cowboys pull up in their convertible red Mustang and offer her a ride, Lacey has a feeling her luck is about to change …

My Thoughts

Short and sweet  – that’s what this story was.  What we have is a quick read about a girl who’s had a really rough go at things and finds herself in a completely different situation.  This isn’t a deep story by any means, and really not very realistic/believable, but there’s something about it that i can appreciate.

We meet our leading lady Lacey on her 21st birthday – where she’s living in a dead end town, working a dead end job and has a dead end relationship with a guy that she’s sure cheats on her and knows steals from her.  She’s been stowing money away from him in the hopes that she can get away, and it’s when she discovers that he’s found her stash and taken it from her that it’s the last straw.  He slaps her and she’s out the door.

This is where things really begin to get a bit less believable though.  She jumps in her car that we were led to believe didn’t run, and while it barely runs, it does run.  So she leaves Tulsa in the hopes of driving to Austin to find a friend that she knew from high school, and he car breaks down just as she crosses into Texas.  To her luck, 2 cars come by on the highway, the first one stops to help her and he seems creepy and of course the other car slowly begins to pass, and there are 2 gorgeous guys in it.  OF COURSE!

So they save her, take her with them to Houston, and the ride is where everything changes for Lacey.  She admits that she’s really inexperienced, and the men take it upon themselves to educate her – while they are driving.  I don’t know about anyone else who read this, but i can’t imagine that there was enough room in a Mustang to do what they were doing.

Anyhow, from then on we see an interesting relationship grow between these guys – a menage of sorts that quickly turns into a traditional duo, but the question becomes which guy will it be, Nate – the bigger, darker, more alpha one, or Riley  the lean, sexy, charismatic on.

While most of the story seemed a bit light and fantasy to me, what i liked is that we still stay true to the core here that Lacey isn’t looking for anything more than safety.  the epilogue shows us that she still has her independence and that she’s able to make her own way, yet ,the question that we’ll see is who she makes it with.  In many stories in this genre, we see the girl get completely sucked into the guys world, really just living to please her man, and that’s not the approach that was taken here.

Anyhow, a quick read like i said, with some really nice play and passion.  I’m a sucker for menage scenes i think – seeing how they can make the dynamic work when it’s amongst friends/family.  Enjoy!

Ivy pressed her hands against Blake’s shoulders, pushing him gently until he was lying back on the blanket.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

“Whatever I want to.”

Blake arched his eyebrow at her, but he didn’t complain. He held perfectly still as her nimble fingers moved down the front of his shirt, undoing each button and exposing the expanse of skin beneath it. Her palms ran over his skin, relishing the feel of his chest hair tickling her hands. She leaned forward, letting her tongue glide along his collarbone, and then she crept down his body to the button of his jeans.

“Your hair tickles,” he said.

Ivy gathered up the long, wavy strands of her hair into one hand and swept them over her shoulder. “Do you want me to stop?”

“Not on your life,” he said between tightly gritted teeth as her fingertips brushed the edge of his waistband.

“That’s what I thought,” she said with a smile. “Now, stop complaining.”

Ivy settled between his legs, resting on her knees as she unbuttoned his jeans. She tugged at his back pockets, pulling his jeans down the length of his legs and throwing them out of her way. She moved back over him doing the same with his underwear, which thankfully, this time, were a pair of charcoal-gray boxers. They slid easily out of her way, leaving nothing between her and her goal.

She leisurely traveled back up his legs. Her fingertips gently brushed along the puckered pink scars of his calf and across his kneecap. By the time she reached his upper thigh, he was nearly trembling. Ivy wasn’t sure if it was with anticipation, emotion, or pain.

His hand reached out and snatched her wrist as she moved higher. “This hardly seems fair,” he said. “You’re wearing entirely too much clothing for me to be wearing so little.”

“Who’s doing this? You or me?”

Blake acquiesced and released her hand. He crossed his arms behind his head, giving himself an excellent vantage point for overseeing her activities. “You are, ma’am.”

“That’s right. Now are you going to keep critiquing everything I do, or do I need to put something in your mouth to shut you up?”

A wicked grin crossed Blake’s face as he looked at her. “May I offer a suggestion?”

“I have several ideas of my own,” she said.
