The sexy saga of Lila and Alexander continues …

Alexander Wolfe is a billionaire whose priorities used to include work, money and total control. No longer. He now has only one obsession: his beautiful new fiancée Lila, whose combined innocence and sultry femininity drive him to the brink. Their attraction began as an uncontrollable lust and has bloomed into an all-encompassing love affair that awes them both. If Alexander could have it his way, he would confine Lila to his private penthouse and bask in the glow of her sensual charms day and night.

But when reality forces its way into Alexander and Lila’s private world in the form of Alexander’s supermodel ex-girlfriend, Alexander’s brother Jake’s impending prison sentence, and a very persistent work colleague of Alexander’s – who just happened to be present at a recent wild night of poker that got a little out of control – things get complicated.

Will the drama drive them apart, or is Alexander and Lila’s love strong enough to get them to the altar?

My Thoughts

Just when things were starting to get settled for Lila and Alexander, you knew there would be a shake-up from everyone else that surrounds them.  there was a hint that Jake – Alexander’s brother would go to jail for quite some time and Alexander of course was going to do whatever he needed to in order to keep that from happening.  If that wasn’t enough, Shauna – Alexnader’s ex was due to give a performance to make things testy, Mark – one of Alexander’s friends/employees found himself at the wrong end of a friendship given what he participated in during Poker night, and Eva – Lila’s roommate / bestie seemed to be hung up on the fact that alexander had more money than anyone.

All these things compounded on the fact that Alexander needs control and Lila doesn’t like to really give that up to anyone means that we’re going to get a rocky 2nd installment to the story.

We pick up on Lila’s first day actually working at Skyscraper and it’s interesting to see how Alexnader both sets her up to be respected, yet feared.  Right off the bat he calls out that they are engaged, but them reminds everyone that she’s a Princeton grad and incredibly intelligent.  She’s given the opportunity to work with every department (aside from Mark’s) to learn what she wants to do and create her own job.  Carte blanche at the mag.  Great opportunity right?

The downfall though is that working together means that they’ll have to learn to exercise some restraint which is something that they are not yet used to.  They have trouble from the first moment kkeepingtheir eyes and hands off each other and it’s fun to watch how they try to work through things.

Not far into day 1, Lila meets Shauna – Alexander’s most recent ex who’s not yet ready to admit defeat and makes it clear that she’s not going down without a fight.  I don’t know about anyone else, but I had a feeling where she was going to go with her spite and i’m not surprised that the timing that she decided to deliver her final blow.  Just as Lila was at the altar – getting ready to say her vows.   Of course – this meant that the wedding doesn’t happen and leads to a downward spiral for just about everyone except for Jake.

Speaking of Jake, i think that we’re all interested in his story.  I mean, he’s been protected all his life from the repercussions of his actions and it’s really a questions of how far Alexander will go this time to protect him.   Even after we get the outcome of what the judge says to him, we are left to wonder if he’ll ever change – and while i hope that he does, i hope that he doesn’t lose his bad boy edge.  And given the sweet intro to Sugar in this book, i hope that we get to see more of Jake and Sugar in book 3 – Jake’s story.

Anyhow – the roller coaster continues in this story – seeing Shauna tear Lila and Alexander apart, and really the question comes down to what will bring them back together.  Since it’s Lila that walked away – she really needs to come to terms with what Alexander has to offer her and what she’s willing to give up since what Shauna’s claiming brings back all these memories from her past.

Aside from this complex story which i really enjoyed – we continue to see how these 2 CANNOT keep their hands off one another and the way that our author writes the scenes is really engaging.  I found myself really looking forward to reading through their chemistry and seeing how Alexander really tested Lila’s boundaries without taking things too far.  it was hot and passionate and really well written – watching two damaged souls find a way to save each other.

The one thing that i kept hoping for though was more of a twist with Mark and Eva.  We get it with one of the 2 – (i won’t say which) but i think that there’s more there.  I feel like there are motives that we don’t really get into here – and while we have an epilogue that puts closure on things, i feel like there’s still room for some dirty business to take place.  We know that Mark has his own agenda, and i feel like Eva has it in her as well to be a bit devious.  I guess we’ll see if anything flares up in book 3.  Regardless – i hope you guys pick this one up and ENJOY!
