Overview

He’s a sexual dominant. She’s sworn off sex. There’s no way they can make a relationship work–or can they?

After surviving a traumatic event at age fifteen and the ensuing estrangement from her family, Natalie Bryant has worked for years to reinvent herself into the woman she is today–a happy teacher fresh out of college and enjoying her first winter in New York City with her faithful dog, Fluff, by her side. Natalie isn’t expecting her life to change completely during a routine stroll through Greenwich Village on a blustery January day. But when Fluff breaks loose and charges into a park, Natalie gives chase and crashes into her destiny. Only after Fluff bites and draws blood from the man who accidentally knocked Natalie down does she realize Fluff has bitten the biggest movie star in the world.

He has no business being enthralled by the gorgeous, young, innocent teacher…
Natalie captivates Flynn Godfrey from the first moment their eyes meet while she is lying on the ground and he’s fighting off her ferocious little beast of a dog. The only thing Flynn knows for certain is if he lets Natalie get away, he’ll regret it for the rest of his life. After only a short time in her presence, Flynn is prepared to change who he is to be what she needs. He knows he’s in big trouble when she says she won’t sleep with him and he doesn’t care if it means he gets to keep her in his life. But can he turn his back on the lifestyle that has defined him? Can he deny the desires that drive him to give Natalie the introduction to love and romance she so deserves? And most of all, can he keep his truth hidden from her long enough to have forever with her?

My Thoughts

I don’t know if it’s possible to pull together more complexity than what we get in this story – and while we’re hoping for a happy ending, it seems like there’s no way that it’s going to happen for these 2.  We had left Flynn and Natalie at the end of book 1 when their world seemed to be in a great place and then it all came crashing down when someone revealed Natalie’s deepest and most hidden secret – what happened to her in the past and by whom.  While we didn’t know what that would mean for the couple, we saw that it was having such a bad effect on Nat – she was fired from her job and everything that she tried to hide from the world was now front page news.

So in this second installment, we see that they have gone to LA in the hopes of getting ahead of things, figuring out what to do next, and all the while, trying to see how they can make this intense love affair hold strong.  This is a roller coaster since we see that Flynn professionally has some of the highest highs he can imagine, however there’s still a bit of a struggle with him and his bestie Hayden who’s not quite sure what to make of things.  especially since he knows that it means that Flynn is hiding one of the most core things to his being – that he’s a dominant and that he’s got his own playroom in his houses, and then there’s Club Quantum.

That’s the underlying theme here, that we know that Flynn’s keeping that bit of himself at bay, and while we should all know from all other stories in the genre that it’s something that will NEVER work, we still want the best for them.  It’s towards the end when Natalie is intercepted by Val (Flynn’s ex) who decides to tell her that the Flynn that she knows may not be the stellar guy that she’s thinking she’s got.  and that leads us down a very dark and troubled path when things are uncovered, lies are told, and we all know that means DISASTER for a couple.

On top of that, at some point in the story, the FBI pops up and we see that there’s an investigation going on since the lawyer that broke the news about Natalie is now been found murdered and there’s a question as to who;s done it since everyone saw that Flynn has extreme hate towards the guy.

So yet another cliffhanger – we see that the relationship is in shambles, Natalite’s future is in shambles, both personally and professionally and now Flynn has a whole new world of hurt to deal with.  Thank goodness i have book 3 already and that’s something that i can jump right into this evening.  So on that note, enjoy the intense chemistry that these 2 have throughout the book – it’s VERY hot and steamy and hopefully the roller coaster keeps you as invested as it has for me.  Happy Tuesday!
