Overview
As their relationship grows more intense, so do Harper’s concerns and Jacob’s secrets, as the next chapter of New York Times bestselling author Beth Kery’s sexy serial novel continues…
Haunted by the prospect of possessing Harper whenever he can, Jacob deepens his risk, indulging in a passionate escape with her at his Sea Cliff mansion. In their moments of intimacy, there are times when Jacob could swear Harper remembers their shared past, making him wonder if she’s purposefully misleading him about forgetting Jake Tharp. But despite his suspicions and increasing worries for her well-being if she does remember that traumatic time, he finds himself falling harder for the woman who has reignited his most savage desires, and his most tender feelings…
Harper can’t help feeling uneasy even though Jacob has begun to slowly open up to her about his past and his relationship with the beautiful Regina Morrow. There’s a mystery to her lover that she can’t comprehend, even as she draws alarmingly close to him with each second she spends in his challenging, intoxicating presence. As their days of volatile passion and pleasure in San Francisco draw to a close, she realizes how much she longs for this enigmatic man. Despite her fears about his secretiveness, when he reveals he wants her to stay with him indefinitely in his Lake Tahoe home, she realizes just how strong her need for him has grown…
My Thoughts
I think that we’re finally starting to break through a wall here with these guys and their shared past. While Jacob is taking Harper to an entirely different level physically and sexually, we’re seeing that there are hints and teases to what they shared before – through experiences and words, and through trust that gives me hope that maybe in the next installment, we’ll finally have harper make the connection. granted – it’s not going to be pretty.
While they are in San Fran, we see that Harper’s being forced to take a leap, to make decisions professionally about what she wants to invest her time in, and while she’s doing that, she pushes Cyril to see what information she can get on Jacob’s past since he’s an enigma and is shut down rather quickly. I feel like aside from their joined past, there’s more to the story there as well and i can’t wait to find out what it is.
I feel like Beth Kery is the master of serials, of giving us novellas that have such a great amount of ‘stuff’ in the short length to really keep you engaged and on the edge for another week. The passion and heat between these two is intense, and i think that there’s so much of the ‘what if’ situation going on too that i can’t wait for the other shoe to drop. They are finally coming to a place where they are both outside of their comfort zones, and if that’s not enough to keep you wanting to read more, then i don’t know what else will do it. Jacob is powerful and controlling, clearly knows how to make a woman feel amazing and lucky Harper, she gets to experience it all with him.
On that note – happy friday everyone and i’ll be back soon with more for you.
