Overview

Are you just going to stand there and watch?

Eleanor Briggs just can’t help herself. The sight of the man in the high-rise across the street is driving her wild. She longs to feel his touch up close and personal. To win him over, she’ll need to shake off her wallflower sensibilities and become the seductress she never imagined she could be. The only trouble will be finding the perfect way to meet him…

Or are you going to join in?

Sex is easy for millionaire entrepreneur Trey Riordan. Finding something of substance, however, seems impossible. That is until a simple night of reading at a local coffee shop becomes something far steamier when a beautiful brunette comes by and leaves a note telling him to look out his bedroom window at eleven o’clock. But when the time comes, neither of them will be truly ready for what follows…

My Thoughts

For those of you who have been with me for a while, you know that i love Beth Kery and just about everything that she writes.  So when i saw this one on my Goodreads list, i was ecstatic.  The challenge though is that i saw very early on that this wasn’t going to be what i’ve become accustomed to in her writing.  The story has potential, but i think that there’s that ‘it’ factor of sorts that is missing.

What we have here is a sweet story about Nora, a girl who’s a bit more subdued and introverted finding herself at a point in her life where she’s just lost her sister and as a result, has decided to heed some advice and try to live her life for each day.  That of course means that she’s going to go after a guy that she’s been watching for the past year.

This guy, Trey, he lives across the street from Nora (now that nora’s moved into her sisters apartment), and he’s quite successful both in business and in the bedroom.  Nora’s seen him participate in all sorts of things with all sorts of partners, and that’s part of the allure.

The journey that we go on in this story is a bit of Nora finding herself since she’s at a crossroads for where she wants to go in life, and Trey kind of doing the same thing since he’s realized that he’s all about sex with women and not about relationships.

The bits that ring consistent and true for other stories from our author is that when these two come together, the scenes are super hot.  You can feel the chemistry and electricity between them, and honestly, that’s what keeps me into the story since the rest of it was ‘meh’.  That’s my biggest issue – the plot itself didn’t really feel deep – it was so on the surface that you never get too much about the actual bits of the storyline.

True to Ms Kery’s form, we get a nice twist at the end, someone ends up in the hospital, there’s a twist related to nora’s sister that was unexpected (yet oh so expected) and all in all, at least there’s closure that’s realistic and what the story deserved.  So….Just because i didn’t love this one, doesn’t mean you guys won’t – so feel free to let me know if you think differently.  Have a great day!
