Tatum Titan

She’s the richest woman in the world, the most powerful, and not to mention, the most beautiful.

It takes a lot to impress a man like me, and at first, Titan didn’t. In fact, I noticed one of her failing businesses far quicker than I noticed her. A publishing house.

But she won’t sell.

She refuses to hear my offer at all.

My assistant makes three attempts to set up a meeting, and Titan ignores each one.

She refused me, Diesel Hunt.

The most powerful man in the world.

I wasn’t used to hearing the word no. I wasn’t used to having a rival that possessed my same confidence, my same intelligence. I wasn’t used to someone else taking control of the situation.

I was always in control.

Her coldness only makes me hotter. Her indifference only makes me more interested. As she proves herself to be the most gifted entrepreneur of this city, she claims my respect-something difficult to accomplish.

And then she claims my obsession.

My Thoughts

While i wait for the next installments of a few things, i figured i’d check this one out since it came up as something that others who read the Lingerie series would like. I’m not sure that I like it as much yet since there are so many secrets that are being teased yet not revealed, but on the flip side, the heat and passion and kink in this story take things up a notch that it’s hot in a way that the other author hasn’t gotten lately.

So in this first introduction to the series, we are met with Tatum Titan, our leading lady, a woman who created her empire from scratch from the age of 15 and has become the most powerful and wealthy woman in the world. She states her terms which are always met, both professionally and personally and that’s the way her world has run. She’s got a dark past that we don’t yet know the depth of, and we know that her friendships and relationships are tied to that, but that’s not really what takes us through this first book.

We also meet Hunt Deisel, our leading man who’s equally strong and powerful, and who always gets what he wants, until he meets Tatum. When he doesn’t get the answer that he wants on a business deal and digs deeper into the woman that Tatum is, we see that he’s not easily swayed, and his conquest changes.

The journey that we go on this first installment is one of negotiation, compromise and chemistry. They both want to live their lives separately and together on their terms but that’s not reality and they have to fight each other to get there. They’re also shrouded in a level of secrecy because of something that Tatum feels is necessary for her survival and we don’t quite get to the culmination of that agreement here.

Throughout this story though, while they fight each other every step of the way, without revealing too much about themselves in the process, we see walls come down, and at the same time, we see the most intense kink rise up. That’s her world, and not his, but a world that he’s completely open to since it has to do with her. There are secrets from their current friends, the business world, and secrets from their/her past that will never come to light that shapes the story as it has formed.

All in all, i’m intrigued, and truly drawn in, but i’m not quite sure what i’m being drawn in to. There’s the relationship between Tatum and Thorn that makes no sense to anyone since it appears that they’re together but both have admitted that they’re not what they seem. There are secrets there that we can’t yet know about and that’s what makes Hunt’s quest that much more impossible. I”m left shaking my head at so much that’s happened, and wondering if there’s any common ground that they can come to without sacrificing all that they’ve built separately. I guess that’ll come in book 2 and we’ll have more answers to what we’re wondering. So, on that note, i’ve just gotten book 2 and i’m off to see what happens. Enjoy!

Review: The Wolf and His Wife (Wolf #2) by Penelope Sky

Title: The Wolf and His Wife
Author:  Penelope Sky
Publisher/Year:  Createspace Publishing 7/23/19
Length:  169 pages
Series:  Wolf #2

Tensions rise and now I have two enemies that want me dead.

But I’ve never felt safer.

My wolf protects me. He cherishes me. And I think he loves me.

This arranged marriage was detested by us both, but now I look at him with new eyes.

My husband is strong, smart, and gorgeous. His coffee-colored eyes make me melt. My heart slowly starts to soften for this man and I fall deeper and deeper.

I fall in love with my husband.

My Thoughts

The dynamic between these two continues to get even more exciting and complicated. We see what happens between Arwen and Maverick change into something that’s a layer deeper, but outside forces make it impossible for there to be happiness.

In this second installment, we get to see how the story continue with Mav and his father and how no matter how much everyone tries, all hope is lost. They have the chance to kill Ramon, the man who murdered Mav’s mom, and that should have been the end of the story – a way to get revenge. The challenge is that Mav’s father takes things one step too far and takes Ramon’s wife and daughter as well and wants to give them the same fate as his wife. So, there’s no choice here but for Arwen to take matters into her own hands, free the wife and daughter and that means that whatever rifts were in existence with this family are even worse now.

That’s the path that we’re on throughout this book. There’s so much hatred, so many opportunities of breaking trust and worrying that nothing will ever make things ok that we’re left to wonder how far Maverick will take this ruse. It’s only when Kamikazee comes along again, and makes attempts at kidnapping Arwen and forces a war that things change.

I spend a lot of this story thinking that there may be hope at some point, that we may be able to see a happier ending, but i think that there are far too many obstacles to find happiness. There’s clear chemistry between them, there’s a sense of friendship between them that makes you feel like there’s a true foundation, but through a series of events, our world is turned upside down.

So, what to say now – i’m really left shaking my head at what happens at the end of this 2nd book. There are so many things that are now up in the air, and yet to be determined that we don’t know how this relationship will shake out. Mav does things, Arwen does things, and well, i’m unhappy with everyones reactions to everything. I have to now wait another couple weeks before the third installment comes, but i think that we’re going to have our minds blown however this ends up. On that note – enjoy!

Review: The Wolf and the Sheep (Wolf #1) by Penelope Sky

Title: the World and the Sheep
Author:  Penelope Sky

Length:  180 pages
Series:  Wolf #1

Till death do us part.

My father married me off to one of the most powerful men in Italy.

Maverick DeVille. But I call him the wolf.

He calls me his sheep.

The arranged marriage was detested by us both, but we had to make sacrifices for the right reasons. He needed to avenge his mother and I needed protection from the mobs that want to torture me.

He’s not what I pictured for my husband. He’s ruthless, calloused, and cold. His walls are higher than mine. He possesses cruelty that makes him feared.

But it doesn’t take long for me to respect him…even like him.

I rely on my husband more than anyone else in the world. He provides for me, protects me, and chases away all my fears.

He lets me graze in the meadow…not a care in the world.

Because the wolf is always watching.

“When people look in the darkness, they see shadows. I see monsters. And I kill the monsters that hunt my sheep.”

I hated this marriage in the beginning, but now I realize how lucky I am.

How lucky I am to be the sheep the wolf protects…and doesn’t eat.

My Thoughts

I was worried for a moment when i finished The Skulls series that i would be at a loss for all things Penelope Sky however YAY i found this new series. We go back to Tuscany, into the balance of legal and illegal doings – where bad decisions have implications on your life, and people die for it.

In this story, we’re introduced to Maverick, our leading man who runs a legitimate family business off the tails of some less than savory things that his family had done in the past. Those underwold jobs that were done came at a price about a year or so ago when Mav’s mom was kidnapped, tortured and killed. That changed the man that he was, and killed the man that his father was – making him into this man who was out for revenge and who had no affection or emotion towards his children outside of hatred. When there’s a chance for Mavericks’ father to get revenge in the form of killing the man who killed his wife, he jumps. This means that Mav has to marry the daughter of the man who’s giving information on the whereabouts of the killer, and thats’ a deal that no one wants.

That’s where we meet Arwen, the daughter who’s live is now being promised to someone else. She’s young, at the peak of her career and in a relationship that’s going down the road to love. What she doesn’t know is that her father is dying, and not only that, he’s made so many bad choices in the past that their fortune is gone and there are ‘bad men’ who want to collect. When her father dies, there will be no one to protect her and that’s why he makes the deal to marry her off.

So you can imagine the direction that this story is going to go in. Two very attractive people who are strong willed and who don’t have a say in their futures and are quite unhappy about what it means. But who both at the same time can’t say no to their fathers for a number of reasons, so married they will become.

The dynamic between these two is a fresh take v. the intense and immediate attractions that we’ve seen for all the other couples in Ms sky’s worlds. Maverick and Arwen both appreciate the physical qualities of one another, but they are both so guarded and closed off that there’s really no chemistry at all between them and no hope for it.

Of course it’s when someone’s life is threatened, and when someone’s shot and when someone is on the verge of being killed that things start to change and that means that the next installment of our series will be compelling and exciting. I’m constantly wondering what the turning point will be for them, and what the sacrifices will be when their lives take the turn. Who will have to give in more than they want, and who will be hurt for it. We know that Mavericks’ father always believes that his son is a coward and not capable of doing anything, and at the end of this installment we see Arwen take matters into her own hands for something serious and that means that now she’s a target as well.

So many questions, so few answers, but i can only assume that the heat will come soon, the angst will come soon and their paths will cross, converge and become something intense. on that note – off to read book 2. Enjoy!

Review: The Skull Ruler (Skull #3) by Penelope Sky

Title: The Skull Ruler
Author:  Penelope Sky
Publisher/Year:  Createspace Publishing 6/4/19
Length:  345 pages
Series:  Skulls #3

Instead of handing me back to Lucian so Balto can get everything he wants, he keeps me.

He pledges to fight for me until I’m free.

But as the weeks pass, freedom isn’t as appealing as it used to be. This place has become my home.

This man is my home.

I’m not sure if I’d ever want to leave…even if Lucian was dead.

My Thoughts

This is the first time that i’ve had to wait for the next installment in a series and i don’t know that i liked it! Because i’ve been so immersed in the other stories that our amazing author has penned, it took me a second to get back into the swing of things with Cassini and Balto. Once i got a few pages in though, it was like i was back where we were with them.

The dynamic here is an interesting one – we know that Cassini was forced into all of her situations, being with Lucien because her boyfriend at the time got mixed up in a few things (until we learned that wasn’t really the case and he was paid to hand Cassini over), and then Cassini found herself ‘willingly forced’ into her relationship with Balto. There wasn’t a safer place to be, but the struggle here was real.

In this third installment, we come to the point in time where Balto has to make the trade back with Lucien to get his skull diamond – that means giving Cassini back which in his head isn’t such a hard task since he’s the Skull King and being in a committed relationship isn’t in the cards for him. When the time comes though and Cassini makes it clear that she’s got nothing to live for and she’ll just kill herself if she goes back, well that pulls at Balto’s heart and we find ourselves at an impasse – where the trade doesn’t happen and we know that there will be implications.

That’s the undertone for the remainder of the story. When will Lucien strike since we know that he considers Cassini his property, and who will die when this interaction happens. Lucien is a wizard with explosives, so that makes things more complicated since Balto isn’t willing to mindlessly go into anything with him without preparation. The choice is taken away when someone they love is taken as collateral, and our story takes yet another turn.

Just when we think that these interactions are bringing Balto and Cassini closer together, we find that Balto is so set in his ways that it tears them apart. He gives Cassini her freedom, and with that, she still chooses him. that’s not an option for him and he does everything that he can to push her away. Similar to how we see this play out in all of Ms Sky’s stories, we end up seeing Cassini find her footing in a new life, with the help of her brothers. Yet more unexpected things happen now that she’s without Balto, and of course that means that our story will take more weaves on this rollercoaster.

The questions still beg to be asked, who will make it out alive and who will be happy. What roles will Heath, Case and Dirk play in everything and what does the future hold for the Skull King? Is Cassini strong enough to be on her own, create a new life and move on? Well we know the answer to that since all Penelope Sky leading ladies are beyond capable. I’m sad to see the closure come to this story and i can’t wait to see what’s next. Enjoy!

Review: Lover in Lingerie (Lingerie #15) by Penelope Sky

I know this has no future.

Only heartbreak.

Bosco Roth may be the man I’ve fallen for, but he’ll never be the man I marry.

He’s too dangerous. Too risky.

When our three months is over, I’ll walk away.

At least that’s what I keep telling myself…

My Thoughts

Knowing that there’s not apparently a book 16, i guess i have always gone into this hoping for the final installment of the series and closure all around. The way that the series has evolved and run from the first books about Conway and Sapphire all the way to now gave me the impression that finality and resolution would be the name of the game. The questions that beg to be answered though are around many of the characters – not just Carmen and Bosco, and it seems like we may not have enough runway to do all that.

So, to start with Carmen and Bosco, we know that their relationship is something real, we have watched it grow into the soul connection that all the other couples have – including the parents, but what i find to be most interesting with this dynamic is that there’s really no outside pressure here bumping up against them. Sure, we know that Cane will hate Bosco for what he stands for, and we know that Griffin has his own opinions because he’s from a similar world, but we don’t have the same level of risk in most instances that we have with the others.

That all changes of course when The Butcher takes a liking to Carmen and Bosco has to step in. It’s literally an apt description for what happens, all because The Butcher was put in the ring and didn’t lose, and that wasn’t a viable option for anyone.

As much as Carmen wants to leave because she knows in her heart that Bosco can’t give her the life and future that she wants, seeing how he will go to any length to protect her, how he makes her feel cherished, well it’s only through the means of a term agreement that she’s able to continue on. We all know that won’t last and play out how she wants, but oh well.

Intertwined into this story is that of Carter and Mia, and Luca. Seeing how that relationship has grown and developed into a family. Personally, I constantly wondering how Egor hasn’t discovered them yet, but well, that’s not for me to say since i’m not the author. Or then again, has he discovered them and that will have a bad omen on the ending? We all know that everyone’s actions have an affect on another family member, Vanessa getting kidnapped because of Sapphire, Griffin getting shot for Conway etc. So, who’s going to be the bait this time?

The power struggle is real here, yet the pull of love and romance from the Underground is even stronger. Peace and family are the name of the game, but it’s too much for some to compromise. Bosco isn’t in the same situation where he can walk away from his business for Carmen and be safe since he is the business – him physically and that puts everyone at risk. His brother Ronan though has ideas, and power, and desire for everyone to find what’s right for them that he serves as a voice of reason and a man who can help things go in the right direction. He makes Bosco realize that family is more important than work, trying to pull him out of the grief from their mothers death bit by bit, and he serves as a voice of reason for Carmen every time she leaves and pushes Bosco away.

What this means to me though is that Ronan should have his own story and i don’t see another installment hinting at that. @PenelopeSky – if you’re reading this – we need a Ronan Roth Story!

The passion and heat comes across in book 15 just as strong as it did in book 1. The plot lines, characters and depth in this final installment were just as compelling and intriguing as they were in very first book as well. I feel like i’m going to be suffering a bit of loss now that i’m done, even with the Epilogue that we were served since the Barsetti’s are an amazing family. I guess the good thing is that i can dive into the 3rd book in the Skull Kings series, but i’ll miss these guys! Enjoy!

Bosco Roth is a crime lord.

The owner of the biggest underground casino.

He’s the kind of man who gets what he wants. He’s got the best poker face in the world.

Now he wants me.

When things become too intense, I hit the brakes and make a run for it.

But one problem…he won’t let me go.

Now I belong to Bosco Roth.

My Thoughts

Carmen seems to be everyone’s favorite Barsetti and it’s about time that she gets her time to shine. Her story with Bosco has only begun, and it’s anyone’s guess to see how this will play out. We know that he’s a protector just like Bones is, but we know that he’s got exponentially more power than Bones as well, so that means that there’s more fear and reason for him to be plain wrong for Carmen.

The journey that this installment of their story goes on is one where as everyone else has experienced, they deny how they feel – or at least Carmen denies it because she has this image in her mind of what her future looks like, of who her family will approve of and of what she will become. Bosco doesn’t check off any of those boxes, but what he does for her personally, the way that he makes her feel really does mean the world and it’s enough for her, but on her terms.

We spend much of our time watching the power dynamic seem to shift when it really doesn’t at all. Carmen always holds the power here, but she for some reason seems to think that Bosco does. She negotiates what she needs out of their arrangement, getting him to compromise on a term of time so that she can hopefully work him out of her system, but we all know that it will never happen that way. Even if he agrees to let her go, she won’t want to because they are so deeply connected now.

Every time that Carmen needs to be saved, she knows that Bosco will be there and he proves is 2 and 3 times more. He’s not intimidated by Bones and the authority that he has, there’s respect there but there’s not willingness to back down. This makes their chemistry even more intense, it makes what they are together more powerful and when it’s Bosco who admits his feelings first, well we see all hell break loose.

I think that it’s safe to say that we can assume that this story will go on the same path that Bones did, but maybe with stress in different places since the families aren’t so intertwined. I think that it’ll just be a unique path that we take to get to the same end point, and i can’t wait to see how the this resolves now that we know there are only four more weeks to the deal. Enjoy!

Griffin offered to take me home but I refused, knowing he needed to get Vanessa home.

I walked to my apartment and took a short cut down an alleyway.

That was the worst mistake of my life.

Four men grabbed me. I fought them off, but when the barrel of a gun was pressed between my eyes, I knew the game was up.

But then a man appeared from the shadows and scared the men away like rats.

Tall, dark, and handsome.

His name is Bosco Roth.

He just saved my life, but he didn’t do it for free.

He wants something in return.

A kiss. A hot and passionate kiss right up against the wall.

But that kiss is just the beginning.

My Thoughts

AHHHHH we finally get Carmen’s story and it seems like it’s following the nature of all the Barsetti women – being with a man who’s completely wrong on paper, someone that their family would never approve of, yet this same person is EXACTLY what they need. The path that we go down with Carmen and Bosco is very much reminiscent of that of Vanessa/Bones, so i guess we’ll have to wait and see how things play out.

Carmen sadly is in the wrong place at the wrong time, she turns down Griffin’s preference to walk her home one night and well, that was the wrong choice. She’s grabbed by a few men in an alley whos intentions are to rape and kill her, and since she has the Barsetti moxy, she fights back, and threatens the men not only with her family name but that of Bones. While it doesn’t do much for the men who are attacking her, another man walks to the front of the alley and hears Bones’ name and puts a stop to everything.

Here comes Bosco. A man that knows Bones, and owes Bones a favor for a job that was done (thank goodness Bones doesn’t always collect money for his work) and Carmen’s life is spared. Would have been a good ending of course except that Bosco is the kind of man that you dream of, built in a way that’s insanely strong but not boxy, eyes that you can get lost in, and a power that makes you want to submit in ways that you never imagined. He gets under Carmen’s skin, but once she learns that he’s not the right guy at all for any number of reasons, she tries to exterminate. Doesn’t work of course.

The path that this story goes on is one that’s rather familiar. Carmen tries to put Bosco out of her mind, he pursues her because he’s intrigued. They realize that while they can be everything for each other, it won’t be easy. Carmen voices her concerns to Vanessa who pushes her to end things with Bosco, but what we quickly learn is that he’s not willing to lose, and not willing to lose her. Carmen is his, and he wants her forever.

There are more questions than answers here in this story. We learn what it is that Bosco does to be the King of Italy essentially and it’s not a direction of work that makes anyone happy. We learn what’s made Bosco into the man that he is, the pain that he’s had in his past from his father who left and his mother who passed away. We see that he’s got a brother who maybe sees further into his soul than anyone else and begins to question his motivations. At the same time, we see that Carmen isn’t just a woman who’s strong, but a woman who knows that she wants to have the greatest future with a family and everything that comes with it.

Where we are left off is a point where they are forced to compromise but that’s not an answers that really gives anyone any peace. Bosco has to fight harder than ever to get Carmen and she needs to figure out how she can be happy either with him or without him.

Families will never allow this romance to happen, yet their chemistry is so intense and heated that it would be a shame to let it go. Penelope Sky does it again with crafting an amazing story and set of characters, although this time around i think that we’re starting to see a similar story to what we have in the past, so i’d love to see how the next installment turns out so that we can get a truly unique story. Enjoy!

This woman used to be my slave.
But now she means more to me.
More than she should.
I’ve done unforgivable things to her, treated her like livestock I bought at the market. I made her tend to my needs without question.
To make up for it, I should let her go.
But even now I can’t.
Instead, I want her to marry me.
Whether she wants to or not.

My Thoughts

SOOOOO much is happening in this installment. And i mean a LOT. i think just about everyone in the 2nd generation has had some type of large resolution to their story and that’s something that’s an amazing feat.

Let’s see, where to start.

Conway/Sapphire – we have been awaiting the birth of their child for such a long time and now it’s that time. It’s really amazing to see how that changes the dynamic of the family, how it makes people who were confident turn into mush, and brings people together when it was completely not the chosen path.

Vanessa / Griffin – i think that it’s safe to say that this is one of the biggest more complicated story lines that we have had the pleasure of reading. We know that they are together for the long haul, that their feelings for each other will overcome anything, but it’s not an easy road. We see Crow try with Griffin. We see Griffin try with Crow. We see each give up and resign themselves to things never working, but what we know is that this is a family that never takes the easy out and well, that’s what happens here.

And just when we think that things are settling, the family of one of Griffin’s targets comes after him, but goes for Vanessa instead, and well, you can only imagine what happens from that point on. This is the moment of the story that defines the man that Griffin thought he was moving away from to become, and we instead see a darker more horrid and tormented side that really breaks everything good that we wanted.

Where Vanessa unconditionally loved him before, she sees that he’s capable of going past the point of no return in a fit of rage and that means that their dynamic is shuffled and changed forever.

Carter / Mia – this is the story that everyone wanted to see how it would play out. She’s gone from purchased slave to the woman in his bed, to the woman that he had to return, now to the woman that he helped fake her death to live in freedom. all because she said she has a son, and that’s something that really pulled at Carter’s heart. Their story, their path now veers off course because Carter now has to make the decision to cross a very powerful man, a man who doesn’t trust what he sees and a man who will have a vendetta for the rest of his life if he’s wronged. Carter steps into that box, gets Griffin’s help (isn’t he such a nice addition to the family?) and tries to get away with murder. We don’t yet get to see the outcome of this, but honestly, we all know that it cannot end well.

So you can see how three stories converge here in this one installment and it’s intense. Emotions come to the top, lives are joined, created, and pulled apart, all with the same level of angst, anxiety and fear that we get in every story. The one constant is that we see that the Barsettis stand beside each other during EVERY moment of need and there’s no end to the amount of need that this family faces. The only person that we have yet to get to the crux of here is Carmen, and we all know her story is up next. I can’t wait to see how that one plays out and what stud of a man comes her way. Enjoy!

I’ve decided to keep her.
I paid for her, after all.
I should feel guilty for the decision I’ve made, but why? She prefers me to her previous master anyway.
And it’s not like my father didn’t do the same thing when he was my age.
I’m rich, powerful, and untouchable.
I’m a Barsetti, and I can do whatever I please.

My Thoughts

Things continue to keep getting more and more interesting with this family and their dynamic with each other, with Griffin and now with Carter/Mia. The trend that started in the last book continues here and while it’s nice, it complicates things a bit more as well.

First, the primary story line of Griffin and Vanessa continues to blossom. We see them together now, the Barsettis are on board with the relationship, but now Griffin is the one with the issues. He keeps putting on a great effort to make the relationship with with Crow and the family, but sometimes it’s just pushing too hard and he explodes. Every step forward is a million steps back, and it leaves us wondering if there will ever be calm and peace with this family. It’s so important to Vanessa that everyone gets along ,but maybe the end result is that they will have to get along separately.

The good news though is that in this book, it’s not the dynamic or relationship between these two lovers that has the roller coaster. It’s what Carter and Conway have done that makes this exciting.

You’ll remember the side hustle that they had with the slaves from the Underground. Well, as you’ll remember from before, it’s caught up with them and now the Skull Kings are after them for blood. Even though they weren’t successful in killing Conway before, they’re not done with their efforts and we know that the Skull kings are viscous, so theyll never stop until they win.

Again, another reason Griffin/Bones has to get involved. The biggest issue here though is that he’ll likely end up blowing his cover of being involved with Vanessa, which he’s tried to keep under locks. He’ll use up all of his chips that he’s got with the other people who go to the Underground because he’ll need their help and protection, and there’s not guarantee that anything will work. So….we spend much of this story wondering what the outcome will be and who will be alive and with what when it’s over.

Separate from that story line, is Carter and Mia. It’s no surprise to know that the back story here is going to be much more robust and entertaining than ever. And Ms Sky, our author doesn’t disappoint. We learn that Mia was taken years ago by Egor, and that she’s been abused for years with little to no freedom. She escapes him and ends up with the Skull Kings, thinking that anything is better than her past master. So when she realizes that Carter isn’t as bad as everyone else, the way that she views the world changes.

He has few rules for her and her life will be luxurious while she’s with him. Don’t cross him, don’t try to escape. Do that and all bets are off on her safety and freedom. Well, this wouldn’t be a story without a really strong woman, so Mia would have to make her move at some point, and we know that the moves would fail. Carter is much smarter than she gives him credit for and the enjoyment that i get from watching this play out makes the book even better.

There’s definitely a trend that we see throughout all of the stories written by our author – we have volatile relationships that all have this immense intense chemistry that can’t stop anything. Relationships are fueled and started by deep rooted hatred, and they blossom into something that’s so powerful that you can’t hope but pray that they overcome what they’re going through.

In the case of Mia and Carter, it seems like there are far too many secrets, far too many unknowns for things to workout. Carter was mislead by Egor on who Mia was to him. He hired carter under the guise of being her brother, but we know that he was an abusive master. We don’t know the true circumstances that Mia was taken, but we do learn that she’s got a valid reason to stay alive and fight. We know that Carter is a Barsetti through and through, yet he seem to be the most naive of them all. Which hohnestly is kind of interesting to me since Cane is the more ruthless of the brothers. Anyhow, he finds himself at an impasse where their story takes pause during this 11th installment, and that’s not a good place. He can’t do what Mia wants, and Mia can’t agree to her horrible future.

Add in more dispute with the Skull Kings yet again, and you have a perfect bridge to the next installment where i’m sure things will continue to get dicey. So…now i’m off to reading the 12th book and hopefully get some answers. Enjoy!
