My Thoughts

The one thing that i can say which you could also assume from the intro is that you can’t be shy about the naughty dirty talk to read this story. we’re accustomed to dominating men who think that part of the intrigue is the way that they are able to control their partner with language, but in this case, i think that our leading man Creighton is just a man who cuts to the chase always.

This first installment of the series takes us on a bit of a bumpy start, watching Holly our leading lady struggle to make something of herself. As is the case in all these stories, her past is a troubled one where she was raised by a mother who doesn’t know who her father is, she was poor, handed off to her grandmother and well, now she’s made her own name. In this instance, it’s through an American Idol like show where she’s able to showcase her talent for country singing, and she’s not trying to find where she lives in that world. Her label coerces her into a relationship with an established country star, which in theory is great but he’s not exactly what he seems to be, and as a result, she’s miserable, and she’s the laughing stock of the industry, and luckily she finds herself befriended by a Faith Hill like object where she’s able to find some pease. With this woman, Tana, she discovers a powerful man who’s none other than our leading man, but when she finds him, it’s in a magazine talking about his ‘take no prisoners’ approach to everything.

This is where Creighton enters our story. He’s a very successful businessman and a man who gets everything that he wants. It’s nice to see that he’s bored by that, and because of that boredom, we see his path cross with Hollys. For a night that neither can forget and a night that Holly runs from in the hopes of never repeating. When Creighton determines that he wants her, he takes an interesting approach by propositioning her publicly with marriage, which actually gets her out of a bind of her own.

From this point on, we see how impossible it is to merge New York with wrong side of the tracks Kentucky and all we want is to see these two happy. What’s nice about how these characters are written is that Creighton isn’t afraid to admit to himself what Holly means to him, how it’s more than he imagined, where we often see the man afraid to admit that there’s anything more than sex. Holly on the other hand has trouble trusting, and she’s compromising a lot, but will not compromise her career, which of course becomes a challenge for these two.

It’s the one thing that Creighton can’t control, and he’s a man who needs control. What’s great about how our great author Meghan March writes this story is that we get to see trade offs, but we get to see the submission in bed as a result. The heat between these two is beyond hot, and while i don’t know that i can say there’s passion yet, there’s chemistry that beats any porn that you could read or watch. It’s hot and edgy, bordering on BDSM but really just about control.

We’re left on the edge of our seat when they aren’t respecting the needs of each other and there’s a line that’s crossed that has major implications. Someone’s not answering their phone, someone has a professional decision to make, and we don’t know what this means for their future. So, what that means for me is that i need to dive right into book 2 and see what happens next. Enjoy!
