Overview

Jenny Kramer knows she isn’t normal. After all, not everybody can see the past lives of people around them. When she befriends Ben Daulton, resident new boy, the pair stumble onto an old music box with instructions for “mesmerization” and discover they may have more in common than they thought—like a past life! Using the instructions in the music box, Ben and Jenny share a dream that transports them to Romanov Russia and leads them to believe they have been there together before. But Nikolai, the mysterious young man Jenny has been seeing in her dreams who has now appeared next door, was there, too. Jenny is forced to acknowledge that Nikolai has traveled through time and space to find her. Doing so means he has defied the laws of time, and the Order, an ominous organization tasked with keeping people in the correct time, is determined to send him back. While Ben, Jenny, and Nikolai race against the clock—and the Order—Jenny and Nikolai discover a link that joins them in life and beyond death.

My Thoughts

I’m new to this author so i really didn’t have any expectations. From what i gathered from this story, i was expecting to get a ‘lovely’ YA story of a girl who was coming into her own, with her fair share of things to cope with.  namely the ability that others don’t have.

What i really enjoyed though was the way that we were taken on their journey.  There’s a great tale of discovery where we see what’s expected in the relationships that are developed between our main characters – Jenny, Nikolai and Ben.  I’m always one who roots for the underdog which Jenny seems at the onset, but it’s quickly turned around that there’s more that’s going to develop and you want her to be happy and with the right person…in the right time.

I can’t say that it was overly deep – but then again i wasn’t expecting that in this instance.  I wanted to suspend my reality for a bit which i did, and i wanted to follow anxiety and wonder of discovering that you may have shared something in the past with someone and that they are in your present for a reason…no matter how right or wrong that is.

I hope you guys enjoy this – just don’t have uber high expectations, take it for what it is.
