My Thoughts

This second installment makes you wonder how much more complicated are things going to get.  We know that Ella was running away since her heart was broken and we know that the family isn’t going to like that.  as if that weren’t enough, the roller coaster that we’re taken on with just about everyone in the family in this 2nd book is insane.

Our author – Ms Watt puts a new perspective on this book – we had it all pretty much from Ella’s POV in the first one, and in this one we alternate chapter groups between Ella and Reed – getting their take on how the situations are unfolding from both of their minds.

Where we pick up in this book 2, the Royals are crumbling in a way.  Reed is at a loss because Ella is gone, Easton is pissed off because he knows that it’s Reed’s fault, and Easton tends to get into his own sort of trouble when he’s trying to cope with stuff.  The twins seem to be doing ok, but i’m sure there’s doom on the horizon there for some reason.  Callum however, while we all thought he was clueless about things, he’s really on the ball and knows all of what’s going on in his home and really tries to step up to sort it out.

Throughout this book we see their world fall apart both personally and in school.  No one knows where Ella is and when they can get her back before she’s hurt or worse.  Val, her best friend knows there’s more to what she’s being told going on, and of course that makes things even more emotional for everyone.

Tying Val back to school and what’s going on there – with so much going on with Ella, Reed and the other Royals haven’t held the same level of control over school and things are going insane.  The cattiness etc is getting so far out of hand and the fact that Daniel from book 1 is still up to his own ways with no one to reign him in, you can be certain that we’ll get into it a bunch there.  Prep schools definitely breed a lot of tension!

Then there’s Brooke – (and Dinah i guess).  Those two are trouble in such a big way for the Royals that i’m actually interested to see where things are going ot go with them.  As it relates to Brooke, we know that she’s the reason that Ella ran – because Brooke was trying to seduce Reed, and Brooke’s got an end goal of money and power from Callum.  I think that there’s a huge question of whether or not she’s going to succeed since she’s got a dirty plan in mind that she’s putting into place that makes everyone angry.  One that has something to do with a bun in the oven….who’s parentage is unknown.

Then there’s Dinah – we know she’s Steve’s widow (Ella’s dad) and when we learn that Ella’s been given 1/2 of Steve’s wealth and a quarter of the company – well we know that’s not sitting well so she must be scheming.

There’s a rather large cliff hanger that we’re left with at the end – someone’s stabbed, someone’s killed and someone’s being investigated by the cops.  Who falls into those buckets?  you’ll have to read on your own, but trust me, i don’t know that it’s possible to have left this 2nd book off with more tension.  Enjoy!
