Overview

It’s really simple. I needed money. A lot of money. One million dollars to be exact. The amount didn’t matter. All that mattered is that at the end of that price tag held my father’s life.

No money. No life.

The time limit was one year. On January 1st I had to pay up or my Father was going to be killed.

When you’re faced with an ultimatum like this, you do whatever you have to do.

And that’s exactly what I did.

The job…Exquisite Escorts. My role, serve as high priced arm candy to anyone that can afford the $100,000 price tag for a month of my company. Sex is optional (for me) and a 20% increase on the price.

Mia Saunders just barely escaped a paltry life back home in Las Vegas until she gets the call that her Father has been beaten to within an inch of his life for not paying his gambling debt. Problem is, the lone shark is her lousy, ruthless ex-boyfriend. Another guy in a long line of men she’d fallen head over heels for. Not anymore. Mia’s mission is simple. Serve as a high-priced escort for her Aunt’s company and pay monthly against her Father’s bad debt. A month with a rich man who she doesn’t have to sleep with if she doesn’t want to? Easy money. At least that’s the way it was supposed to go.

My Thoughts

I came across this series after spending a few minutes reading Today.com (random right?) and saw a snippet of an interview where they are touting this as the next series after FSOG.  I don’t know what i was expecting with hype like that, but well, what we got was perhaps something different.

As the summary tells us, we meet our leading lady Mia when she’s in dire straights, – her father is in a coma after being beat up by a loan shark that he couldn’t repay a million dollars to.  Ironically it’s a guy that Mia used to date, so she’s hoping that he’ll let her pay it off in installments, and it’s only through her aunt’s business that she’s able to make that kind of money.

In this first installment in the series, Mia goes on her first month long assignment which ends up being with a movie writer who’s incredibly sexy.  Why he needs an escort is beyond her, but so be it.  The tough thing here is making sure that there’s distance between what she does for ‘work’ and what’s real life -blurring those lines will make things that much harder when the month ends for them.

We see that the intentions for Mia being in this line of work shift over the first month – it’s not just for her father anymore – it’s showing her to live her life in a way that’s perhaps a bit more for her and less for others.  I think that what we’ll see as this series progresses is that she’ll really come into her own.  The question becomes will she fall for each of her monthly clients and what will that mean for her in the future?  will she be able to walk away from a world that gives her so much amazing stuff in terms of both valueables as well as people in her life?

I guess the real only comparison that i’m seeing between this series so far and FSOG is that there’s some intense passion so far with Mia and her first client.  Not at all in the BDSM realm, but it’s still quite steamy and it can really heat up the pages.  I’ll be interested to see how creative Ms Carlan becomes as the installments roll out since each client needs to be so different.

Well on that note, i’m into February already and i’ll be back soon to tell you all about it.  Happy Sunday and Happy Super Bowl!
