Overview

Chris and Sara from Inside Out return in the explosive finale to Ella’s story from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones with the third book in the sexy, suspenseful Careless Whispers series.

Passion burns fiercely hot between Ella Ferguson and Kayden Wilkens, the man who held secrets and lies in his hands, and then allowed them to fall into hers. But even though he has become her anchor—helping her recover from amnesia after finding her unconscious in an alley, and allowing her into his secret world—all is not what it seems. Kayden still has secrets, and pieces of Ella’s past are still shrouded in the darkness of her mind, while the powerful man who hunts her will not stop until she is his. In this final, explosive novel in the Careless Whispers series, Ella discovers that while her life with Kayden didn’t begin in that dark alley…it could easily end there.

My Thoughts

I think that we have all been waiting soo soo long to get the finale of this series and i’m so happy that we got to see what the conclusion of Ella’s journey was.  I think that there’s so much that’s exciting going on and so much that’s unexpected that we as the reader have no choice but to get engrossed.

Where we left off at the end of book 2 was that we know that Ella is starting to get her memory back but in bits and pieces – all of which really don’t make a complete story.  She’s starting to wonder who she really is because of the visions that she has of her training and her father, and that means that there has to be so much more to the story than ever.  Kayden has his thoughts and a PI that was hired uncovers a bit more and we start to see things unfold.

There’s a thought that Ella is CIA since that’s what her father seems to be – and some of her flashbacks give that impression.  That in itself proves to be an issue for her given that Kayden is the leader of the Underground and they are not necessarily organizations on the same side.  True to form though of our author – Ms Jones shows us that sometimes you have to put that stuff aside when you know what your heart knows.

Ella still can’t recall where the necklace is stashed, and everyone in the Underground are working to solve that mystery before Neuville and Niccolo do.  Those two, being half brothers or step brothers or whatever – they have their own vendetta which makes the story that much more interesting since no one can trust allies or enemies in this one.  There’s the inclusion of Alessandro in the mix who is the leader of the Jackals, another treasure hunter group who’s on Neuville’s side which of course makes for more drama and another target.

The basis of this final installment is wondering who is truly on whom’s side, and what that means for Ella and Kayden.  We know that Ella seems to think that there is something less than savory going on based on feelings that she gets in her house, although Matteo (their resident Hacker) says otherwise.  We still don’t know if we can trust Gallo (italian police), so Sasha (a hunter) is assigned to him as a distraction and hopefully to get information.  Sasha also has a connection with Neuville that proves to be useful in how everything unfolds.

The twist comes into play when Chris and Sara had hired Walker Security to find Ella and that couple enters into the picture.  They are now becoming a target regardless of how much they try to stay off the radar and it’s just a matter of time in this story when we count down until things go wrong with them.

We spend much of the story really seeing how the trust between Kayden and Ella grows into an amazing relationship.  They are clearly made for one another and regardless of the obstacles in their paths, they are in it for the long haul.  I think that we’re going to see how that turns out hopefully in a happy ending since their backgrounds and lives are incredibly different, yet quite similar.  The way their relationship is written into this story too is intense.  Their connection both in and out of the bedroom is hot.  Ms Jones does a good job in making you really root for them, while also making you feel like you absolutely need a cold shower since it’s hot and steamy and passionate – any time they are in a room together.

So there’s an interesting twist and turn of events when we finally learn Ella’s past and that makes us question everything that we know.  We also see how things get interesting once she remembers where the necklace is.  There are multiple kidnappings (of course) and a lot of folks die, but i think that where we are left in this story gives us a firm bit of closure and also opens us up to the option for spin-offs or novellas based on some of the other characters that we’ve met.  All in all, exactly the kind of ending i would have expected and wanted in this series and i can’t wait to see if we’re going to get more.  Enjoy!

Overview

Still struggling with amnesia, Ella questions everything she’s known about Kayden Wilkens—the alluring stranger who claims to have found her unconscious in an alleyway a month earlier. But was he truly a stranger—or did Kayden know her before his supposed rescue? Tormented by the potential betrayal he denies, with fleeting memories of a bombshell in her recent past, Ella must face a hard reality. Every action has consequences . . . and trusting Kayden, the one thing she most desires, might result in the direst consequences of all.

My Thoughts

I love how this story keeps us really confused about what we knew from Sara’s story and what we know or don’t know now.  Every time i feel like Ella is about to make a breakthrough to something that we know about her, it turns out to be something different, which keeps me incredibly intrigued.

In this 2nd book, we know that Ella is slowly getting bits of herself back, she’s getting flashbacks time and time again that give her little glimpses into her life before coming to Italy.  Kayden is amazing in how he cares for her and how he’s protecting her, however we see in several of the flashbacks, there are things that she recalls that are exactly what he said, and that makes her wonder.  not doubt- but wonder.  On top of that, there are phrases that she recalls from what her father told her that make her even more curious.

Anyhow – throughout this story, we see that there’s a strong undertone of trust, protectiveness and everyone man out for themself.  We see that in full force with Giada – she goes about everything in the wrong manner.  We see that in Adriel, someone who we still don’t know if he can be trusted.  Ella gets a sense about him, and i trust her instincts for some reason.

Along with that, we have a really hot romance here between Ella and Kayden, and that’s something that i’ve come to not only expect but appreciate as well.  If we didn’t see these hot and steamy scenes, the passion that comes between a couple, well, i think that it wouldn’t be typical of Ms Jones.

I think that where we are left off in this one, not sure who’s safe, who’s after whom.  What side everyone is on – that’s a great place to keep us waiting.  There are so many nuances to the relationships that we’re seeing – even between Kayden and Niccolo, and the police and everyone else.  i’m sure it’s going to get really dicey and i can’t wait to see what that all means and who’s going to come out alive and well.  Enjoy!

Overview

The New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of the explosively sexy Inside Out and the Secret Life of Amy Bensen series will seduce you with this sultry tale of possession and ecstasy, wild fantasies and dangerous secrets—first in the racy and suspenseful Careless Whispers series.

Ella awakes alone in Italy, no longer sure of who she is. One thing is certain: a gorgeous man has claimed her as his own. He’s tall, dark, and sexy, the kind of rich, powerful man who makes a girl long to be possessed. And possess her he does, whispering wicked promises in her ear, indulging her deepest desires, stealing her trust—and her cautious heart. Soon, though, she discovers that nothing is as it seems. The truth will shatter her world, but it will also set her free…if it doesn’t destroy her first.

My Thoughts

I’m so in love with the series that started all of this – In and Out where we got to know all about Sara and her romance and stuff to suffer through.  The teaser that we got of Ella’s story at the end of the last bit of the series that you knew that something good was going to come up next.

So we open into Ella’s series when she’s waking up in a hospital, suffering from amnesia – and coming to – seeing a gorgeous man at her bedside who claims that he’s found her on the street and called the cops.

What we get here is completely on par with the level of anxiety and heat/passion and sex that we’ve gotten all along.  Ella and Kayden have a chemistry that’s both unfamilier and yet soo comfortable – seeing as how they both come from such horrible dark pasts.  They have shared experiences which is why Ella trusts him when she can’t even trust herself.

The way that they come together, how Kayden not only wants to protect her but to ‘own’ her in the best way possible is electric.  The dynamic between these two is intense and you can only pray that he’s one of the good guys even though we know from past bits of the main series that there’s no way that it can be the case.  He’s connected in so many ways to an illegal life that it has to blow up in their face.

I think that the best thing that we’ll see is how the story unfolds – we see that Ella’s memory is slowly coming back and what she finds in his office at the very end shows that maybe there’s more to the story than we even know yet.  I also think that we’re going to see that the life that we were led to believe that Ella had via Sara’s story isn’t at all what it seems, and it’s just a matter of time until it comes to a head.

I can’t wait to see how the passion and heat that started off here will continue especially seeing how things are evolving.  Ms Jones does a phenomenal job of really making you feel like you’re in the moment with them, like you’re feeling everything that they are and connecting on the same level – so you really want to see things work out.  I just don’t know if tha’ts possible in this case.

The other thing too – i don’t know why it’s bothering me, but i feel like Giada (a supporting character) and her brother Adriel aren’t all that they seem.  Kayden seems to feel like he’s got these instincts about people and i do too.  i feel like they are going to screw everyone over and i just can’t wait to see how it happens.

On that note – have a happy thanksgiving everyone and i’ll be back soon.
