Overview

“She was nothing I expected and everything I wanted.” – Dave

I’m a scorned woman and no one, except him, knows it.

My first lover.
My best friend’s brother.
A mouth-watering piece of art I can’t stop staring at.

He’s the ice-cream to my tongue on a hot day.
Water to my dehydrated body.
And a perfect release for my pent up desires.

But we’re far from a fairy tale.
He can be the knife to my heart.
Acid to my skin.
And darkness to my eyes.

He destroyed me.
Broke my soul and stole my faith.

Now he wants to put me back together and I’m not sure if I’m strong enough to resist him.

My Thoughts

I think that we all felt like we knew where things were going to go – these 2 had an obviously connection that pretty much was unbreakable.  that being said, it takes us through most of the book to understand why and why not – as far as ‘could their relationship truly work’.

Throughout this 3rd installment, we learn more and more about how David and Millie came to be connected, and it was done through a series of flash backs from both of their POVs.  i don’t know that Ms Silks has ever really done that for us before, but i really enjoyed it.  It adds a depth to the story and the relationships that we would not have had otherwise.

We see Millie’s troubled life – we see how she was bounced from foster home to foster home, and how she was abused, or neglected at each.  It’s only through the friendship of David in high school that we see hope – that Millie realizes that maybe it’s ok to be just a little bit open to someone else.  And it’s through David that she meets her best friend in April – a girl who saves her in a sense – and gives her what she didn’t have at least in friendship and material things in a girl.

There were a lot of under currents in this final story as well.  We get the constant reminder of Mrs Bowers – the grandmotherly type who lives in the cabin down the road from David’s family’s cabin, and we learn bits and pieces about her past that really begins to make you scratch your head.  It’s not an ending that we all didn’t see coming for miles, but its a nice one.

The twist that i don’t know that i expected was how intermingled the Savages were.  We know that Millie was spooked and running because Mark Savage was let out of jail early and he had a vendetta against her, but the ‘why’ behind it all, FAR FAR more complex than we ever thought – and i was impressed how well our author wrote that one in.

All in all, there was a great mix of anxiety, fear and passion / romance to make it a well balanced book.  I’m a bit sad that it’s coming to an end, but in the final notes, we see that there’s something AMAZING coming out later this year from Lacey and i can’t wait to see what that is.  Have a great week all!

Overview

There’s not really one available anywhere so i’ll just go into my thoughts

My Thoughts

We’re in this continuation of the series of sorts-  however where we get in this next book – laying out how April’s life has changed and then getting further into the story of Millie and Dave i’m confused but i’ll get over it.

We learn that Dave is April’s sister, and Millie is her best friend. so their lives are intertwined forever.  The challenge though is that there’s this tension between Dave and Millie – we know that they were the true love for each other but right now it’s not the right time, and while it’s christmas, there’s hope that something could happen, but knowledge and understanding that it probably won’t.

So this is a novella – a quick read as a segue into the next installment where we’ll probably get a bit more into the depth of what Dave and Millie had and what it can or can’t be.  Not much more to elaborate on here i’m sorry to say, but Ms Silks never disappoints, so i’m sure the next book will give us exactly what we need.  Happy Sunday All!

Review: Teachers Pet (Reality in Each Fantasy #3) by Lacey Silks

No-Brainer

Title:  Teachers Pet
Author: Lacey Silks
Publisher/Year:  MyLit Publishing 5/9/14
Length:  33 pages
Series:  Reality in Each Fantasy #3

Overview

When Angie steps into her friend’s sexy Halloween party on the other side of town, her son’s teacher is the last person she expects to see. Masked, she hides her identity and plays her role as Teacher’s pet to perfection. Mark’s Chippendale outfit draws her in and Angie soon finds herself making out with the masked stripper. When she realizes who he is, embarrassed, she flees upstairs. Can Angie overcome her shame and let Mark pet her the way she’s wanted to since they’d met at an interview?

My Thoughts

Expected yet semi underwhelming – although we still all that goodness that we expect from Ms. Silks.  Angie is a single mom i gather, and has needs of her own, which it seems that her son’s sexy teacher may be able to help with.  Of course its through a comedy of errors of sorts that things start to take shape.

She’s late to a meeting with the teacher, then falls on her butt with her skirt flying up – and then well, it’s all culminating at a halloween party of sorts.  So…things per usual in these novellas quickly escalate and i think that it’s safe to say that all the steamy goodness that we love from this author will come to pass.

Have a great sunday all.

Review: Dance With Me (Reality in Each Fantasy #2) by Lacey Silks

No-Brainer

Title:  Dance With Me
Author: Lacey Silks
Publisher/Year:  MyLit Publishing 12/29/14
Length:  33 pages
Series:  Reality in Each Fantasy #2

Overview

Kate has watched Sebastian Hill take on the role of a leading man on a hit TV show for ten seasons. Each time, she’s imagined herself as his partner in more ways than just dancing. While on vacation, she’s saved from a near drowning and ends up recovering in Sebastian’s room. He proves to be as suave in person as he is on the dance floor and Kate’s fantasies are about to come true.

My Thoughts

Ahh yes, another short novella that we get to see the beginnings of something interesting and good with Kate and ‘Bastian’.  I mean, where else do you get the girl fresh off a break up and the sexy ‘dancing with the stars’ type lead to come together at a resort right?

All that being said, we get another lovely novella from Ms Silks – giving us characters that clearly have more under the surface going on that doesn’t come out and that’s what’s good here because they just let it all go away just to enjoy a ‘day’ especially since Kate almost drowned after ogling him.

So, on that note, you get a really steamy scene – post shower which makes it really nice  – and all the other great stuff that leads into a set up for what could be a good longer story if that was the intention.  So….have a good night all and i’m off to find the next one.

Review: Bossy Request (Reality in Each Fantasy #1) by Lacey Silks

Title:  Bossy Request

Series:  Reality in Each Fantasy #1

Overview

Sharon helps her hot boss to match his ties to this wardrobe every morning. Straining to keep their working relationship professional, she keeps her distance from Frank until an accident at work forces them closer. An invitation to dinner, to thank sharon for her help, stirs feelings she’s hidden from Frank for years. Fearing she could lose her job if their relationship flourishes, Sharon hesitates.

Frank’s feelings toward his secretary are tested. He can no longer resist Sharon, and makes his move. Will Sharon begin to work under him the way he’s dreamed for years?

My Thoughts

If there’s something that Ms. Silks does well is give us these little novellas that give you just enough to want to know more, but enough that you’re not upset when it’s done.  ok, well maybe a bit since i always prefer SEVERAL chapters of these guys.

Anyhow, we meet Sharon who is Frank’s secretary and has been for the last 5 years, and there’s chemistry between them that they haven’t acted upon.  It’s only on the day that it’s basically a perfect story – where Sharon stares at Frank in the gym while he’s running w/ his shirt off and gets caught watching, and then spills steaming hot coffee on herself when Frank startles her that we see things finally heat up. (no pun intended).

Of course Frank’s solution is to take her shirt off right?  i mean that ALWAYS happens in a work situation, but i guess it’s the impetus that we needed to see.

Anyhow, from then on we get usual Lacey Silks progress – very hot very steaming scening for the remainder of the novella.  Makes you wonder what’s next right?  i’m off to find out.  Have a good Saturday everyone.

Review: Mistress Amber (Reason to Cheat #5) by Lacey Silks

No-Brainer

Title:  Mistress Amber
Author: Lacey Silks
Publisher/Year:  MyLit Publishing 6/20/13
Length:  14 pages
Series:  My Reason to Cheat #5

Overview

Amber doesn’t understand how her husband could have lied on their wedding day and for so many years since. At therapy she confesses she can no longer see a resolution to their marriage. Facing similar marital issues, her psychiatrist struggles to convince her how beautiful and worthy she is without showing her. The only therapy both need, is one which doesn’t involve clothing.

My Thoughts

and this fifth story closes the loop – as we are finally getting to the point where we’ve now met all the characters and we see how their stories and lives are intertwined.  Amber is interested in her therapist who is married and has drawn a line – although he admits that his relationship isn’t great – so…that puts a spark under Amber to pursue harder.

What we also learn is that claire from the first book, she’s the wife of the therapist, and we know that she’s no longer engaged in the marriage, and has served her husband with divorce papers – so that means that everyone’s really free and clear to pursue whom they want.

That all being said, i’m curious if the full book has more than these little snippets – so i’m going to search for it and see if i can get a complete story of all these folks.  on that note – happy wednesday.  (not happy for me – i’m suffering from a broken heart) but happy to you all no less.

Review: Mistress Paige (My Reason to Cheat #4) by Lacey Silks

No-Brainer

Title:  Mistress Paige
Author: Lacey Silks
Publisher/Year:  MyLit Publishing 6/20/13
Length:  24 pages
Series:  My Reason to Cheat #4

Overview

She’s lived with the mistake of choosing the wrong guy in high school, but Paige can no longer deny that Colin, now her dentist whom she rejected, has always held her heart. When Colin admits he shouldn’t have let her go, Paige can no longer lie about her feelings. Soon, their friendly appointment turns into a passionate session, geared to fulfill both their needs.

My Thoughts

and the series continues – this time we get to see the connection from the book prior in the wife of the doctor – and get to perhaps glimpse a bit more into what’s going on here.  It’s yet another short novella – too short really -but still all a great set up.  Paige in this instance is the wife of the doctor from the conventions in the book prior, and we get to see that she is regretting a choice that she made in choosing the man to be her forever.  He decided that working was perhaps more important and that drives her to wonder if the boy from high school, ironically who was her husband’s partner in the dental practice was the right one.

True to Ms Silks style, again we get one really great steamy scene, you can feel that there’s so much of a connection and passion here that you really want to see what’s going to happen next.  will we?  who knows.  Enjoy!

Review: Mistress Lexie (My Reason to Cheat #3) by Lacey Silks

No-Brainer

Title:  Mistress Lexie
Author: Lacey Silks
Publisher/Year:  MyLit Publishing 6/20/13
Length:  24 pages
Series:  My Reason to Cheat #3

Overview

Lexie has attended six conferences in the past month, watching James present. When she’s called up to the stage to help out, it occurs to her James has noticed her as well. Unable to hide her feelings for the stud, Lexie gives in to each hidden touch he’s able to make while presenting. And when the curtains go down and lights go off, both take advantage of the little privacy they have.

My Thoughts

Well, this was much faster even than the last novella – but i guess that’s the point right?  As teased in #2, Lexie is the wife of Maksim – Casey’s trainer, so it’s all tied together and related.  here we see that Lexie truly is at a ‘conference’ as Maks has told Casey and there it’s the presenter that gets her all hot and bothered.

While this scene is quick, it’s true to what Ms Silks always does.  We get to see that there’s a quick build to passion and heat that leaves you thinking about what will come next.

On that note – i’m buried under about 10 inches of snow at the moment with much more on the way, so i’m sure i’ll be back.

Review: Mistress Casey (My Reason to Cheat #2) by Lacey Silks

No-Brainer

Title:  Mistress Casey
Author: Lacey Silks
Publisher/Year:  MyLit Publishing 6/20/13
Length:  22 pages
Series:  My Reason to Cheat #2

Overview

Casey had been looking to re-connect with her husband emotionally and physically, but even her weight loss and sexy lingerie doesn’t help. When a gym’s owner becomes aware of Casey’s needs, and understands an unsatisfied marriage as well, Casey finds it easy to trust someone other than her husband to fulfill her.

My Thoughts

I love Ms Silks as an author and when i realized that i’ve missed out on the rest of this series, i had to get the remaining books.  (novellas – whatever).  So in this quick snippet of the bigger story, we get to see a scene in the story of Casey – where she’s clearly not blind to what’s going on in her marriage and had taken steps to get to a good place which didn’t work.  while that was happening, she got the attention of her trainer who ironically had a similar situation going on at home as well, and well, you can only imagine what will ensue.

Nothing too complex here, just the expected heat and passion from Ms. Lacey Silks.  and on that note, i’ll dive into the next one and be back shortly.  Have a great friday everyone and for those of you in the past of this big snowstorm – stay warm.

Review: Perfectly Seduced (Perfectly Equipped #2) by Lacey Silks

No-Brainer

Title:  Perfectly Seduced

Publisher/Year: MyLit Publishing 7/8/15
Length:  193 pages
Series:  Perfectly #2

Overview

“I make people disappear and now I may be the one who has to vanish — with her.” – Sean

Relationships can still work if they begin with lies, can’t they? Big, fat lies from a man with the perfect… everything.

Because despite everything, I can’t stay away from him.

Despite the secrets he’s kept. Despite the lies he’s told.

Something makes me feel I can trust him, no matter what the truth turns out to be.

I just hope I’m right. Otherwise, with a fifty-million dollar target on my back, I just dug my own grave.

Besides, I have a few secrets of my own …

My Thoughts

After the teaser of the first novella installment of this series, i was really intrigued to see where things were going to go between April and Sean.  We saw that the volcano eruption pulled them apart just when April was letting her guard down and it would be interesting to see if they would find each other again, how long it would take and what it would mean.

The great thing that’s done here is that Ms Silks gives us the clear understanding that Sean is not who he says he is – although he hasn’t said much.  He’s got his own agenda for finding April and we learn during the story that him being at the resort wasn’t a coincidence either.  He’s seeking her out for a ‘job’ and the results of what happens will be earth shattering i’m sure.

The old adage of never mix business with pleasure here is a true one – we see that Sean’s conflicted because he needs to complete his job to keep April safe but of course he’s got this passion and chemistry with her that makes it all that much more difficult.

Pair that with the fact that April’s a forensic expert and questions everything, so she’s on alert around Sean already – not buying his story.  See, he popped up in her town, as her son’s teacher – randomly right?  and the things that he says to her don’t check out.  So the question that we’re left with is what is his secret, will he tell her and when and what will it mean?

There are quite a few twists in this story that are amazing to read.  we find out that there’s been money stolen to the tune of 50 Million dollars- claimed by someone who’s said that she’s April (since April is the only one who was supposed to be able to claim it) and it’s in an untraceable account overseas.  Then we see that sometimes what we think happened in the past didn’t really happen as our memories tell us, so we find that the end few chapters are really exciting because several folks end up in the hospital, some die, and some just come together in a weird way.

Throughout the story though  we see that while there are major trust issues, the style that we know and love from Lacey Silks comes out with gusto.  The heat and chemistry leaps off the pages.  What April and Sean have together is so hot and keeps the pace of the story going at a good clip.  the interjection of the tension among some of the supporting characters like Millie, Aprils dad and Sean’s mom makes things even better.

Where we net out – totally unexpected, yet i feel like i should have guessed it, and the epilogue puts a nice bow on things.  All that being said, i’m thrilled that in the post of it all, we find that Millie’s going to get her own story due out in March hopefully so that’s on my list of must reads.  On that note, have a great weekend everyone!
