My Thoughts
I feel like the overview doesn’t do this next installment justice, but then again, i’m not sure that i ever really rely on them to make me read a book. In this 5th installment, we get to see how things are progressing for Harper and Jacob, especially since it seems like glimpses of their pasts are coming out a bit more. Jacob has to go to San Francisco on business, and invites Harper along. It’s there that they get the unfortunate surprise of Regina, a woman from Jacob’s past who’s not the most stable, and the issues that we see come up are in how Jacob shares information on who she is and how Harper receives it. Always a chance for some really tough situations – for sure.
The other bit here is that we see that they are each digging for a bit more of something with each other – trying to get to the crux of what makes them them. We know that Jacob knows exactly who Harper is from his past, yet she doesn’t make the connection yet. We know that she’s digging for information and i wonder if on some level she really does know who he is, but we’re just not there yet Since we’re coming to the end of the series, i think that it’ll be interesting to see how her eyes are opened up, and i wonder how explosive it’ll be.
In the meantime, at least we see that they are taking their relationship to the next level here – knowing that they won’t admit that it’ll be something more finite and substantial (yet) but also knowing that there’s something that they can give each other in terms of both physical solace as well as mental. So, on that note, tomorrow the next one is out and i can’t wait to see what happens.
