Overview

A tantalizing new erotic romance from author Opal Carew that dares to ask:

How far would you go for a taste of ecstasy?

Crystal never dreamed her engagement would end this way. With her fiancé breaking her heart the day of the wedding…and his best man stepping in to mend it. Now she’s about to embark on her dream honeymoon with the sinfully sexy best man. But when the groom shows up determined to win her back, she ends up in a highly unusual situation…on a honeymoon for three. Caught between two gorgeous guys—each determined win her hand by showing her the most pleasure—Crystal has an impossible decision to make. Who will she end up with once the honeymoon is over? And how can she follow her heart when it belongs to two men at once?

My Thoughts

I’m usually a fan of Opal Carew so it was nice to discover a book from years and years ago that I hadn’t read. While the summary teases a bit of what we’re to expect, There’s so much more to this story than meets the eye.

Yes, we’re introduced to Crystal on the day of her wedding, she’s getting ready for the big ceremony and all the fanfare that lies ahead. Her fiance’s best friend Evan comes by to calm her nerves a bit and to share a little bit of what he’s been feeling for years. This is something that the summary doesn’t share. Evan’s been in love with Crystal for a long time and while he knows that she’s going to marry his best friend, he owes it to himself and to her to share how he feels in case that has an impact on her decision to go through with the wedding. So of course, it’s that moment, when Evan admits his feelings to Crystal and they ’embrace’ – that’s when Brent sees them and decides that he can’t go through with the wedding. Crystal is left at the altar, and Evan swoops in to help get her away from it all.

This leads to an afternoon of passion that neither expected, and as a result, to a honeymoon trip filled with all sorts of heat and chemistry. They realize that maybe there is something to explore and that’s where our story takes us – on that journey, watching as they learn about each other more and more, see how they are beyond physically connected and able to give the other what they need. until brent shows up.

You’d imagine that this would be a tough situation right? Crystal now has to choose between her fiance and someone that she may have stronger feelings for, and instead of forcing a choice right then and there, we watch the beginnings of a threesome develop, as they vie for her attention, and realize that sharing a woman plays right into a fantasy that these guys have had for ages.

We see this get naughtier and naughtier as the pages go on. There’s an introduction of a sexy neighbor that’s down the lane from them who brings out things in Crystal that she never knew were there. It inspires passions amongst everyone that this book ups the ante with steam.

Add to that a complete new couple making this a group thing rather than just a threesome, and then there’s the notion that there’s interest from Brent to Evan, something that he never realized or explored, but we watch how these men also explore what’s possible with each other.

So, in my opinion, this story is less about the relationship and more about the group sex and kink that they get into, but what’s my opinion here right? We do know that there’s a choice to be made at the end of all this, if it’s Brent or Evan and Evan knows that it’s going to be Brent, even if he did leave Crystal at the altar. He just knows that he’s not willing to go out without a fight, and that’s where we’re finding the ending of this story. A choice to be made, an interesting turn of events, and some very very sexy times had by all. Enjoy!

Overview

Getting cheated on and left with a hotel bill that costs more than she makes in a year was not a part of the plan when Riana came to Las Vegas to marry her wealthy fiancé. Her plans also didn’t include getting bailed out of this horrible situation by Quinn, the ex-boyfriend she hadn’t planned to see ever again. For Quinn, Riana was the one that got away and he’s never gotten over her, no matter how successful he became.

Riana insists on paying Quinn back, so he makes her an offer—spend the next month with him and his business partner Austin while they’re on vacation. It’s clear to him that Austin is attracted to her, too, and Quinn’s always liked the idea of sharing a woman with him. It’s something that Riana wants to do, and after a few glasses of champagne—only enough to stop denying herself what she wants—she voices her desire to be with both men.

But as the month comes to an end, Riana has to face the reality she’s falling for Quinn and Austin…and the possibility that one crazy night in Vegas could cost her one—or both—men.

My Thoughts

Before i get into this review, I want to thank the folks at Netgalley and St Martin’s Press for getting me this ARC. I’ve read several Opal Carew stories in the past and it was nice to get into a new one, even if it was a stand alone.

So, first i have to point out that in the version that i got, her name was April, not Riana, and there was a whole story about how she came to her name. Not a huge deal, but something that i noticed. The other thing is that the summary over simplifies what happens here and the timing of it all, but again, not a huge deal.

We start off our journey at a moment in time when April wakes up to realize that she’s not alone in bed, and not just that she’s not alone, it’s not with her fiance Maurice, but instead with two men that she’s yet to identify. The other thing is the quick realization that she was supposed to have gotten married the day before and she’s now also got a hangover which makes the slow realization of reality a bit more harsh.

We then flash back to the previous 24 hours when her life came crashing down on her. They were in Vegas to get married, enjoying the weekend with their friends, when post the rehearsal dinner, April walks in on her fiance ‘getting it on’ with some random blonde woman. That turns her world upside down and now not only has she lost her fiance, but he makes it so that her entire world comes crashing down. Because he has so much power and influence, he makes sure that everyone things that she’s the one who cheated, cancels her credit cards, leaves the bill with her, takes her townhouse from her (calls in her loan) fires her from work and ensures that no one else will hire her. To add to that, he knows that April has no family and really no friends, so she’s left on an island.

It’s through a weird twist of fate that as April’s being kicked out, that a man from her past is in the hallway and comes to her rescue. We don’t know what the true background of the story is between Quinn and April, but we know that it can’t be all good (or bad) based on his reactions to her. He immediately wants to help but he has such anger for her that it’s mixed.

The journey from here is an interesting one. There’s clearly chemistry between these two and even with Quinn’s business partner Austin, so if nothing else, we’ll get a really hot and steamy story, but what we get in addition to that is a really sweet story about lost opportunities because of the lack of true communication when they were younger and a misunderstanding of motivations etc. As a result, things get sexy, complicated and so engaging.

When the guys realize that April is left with nothing, and they watch Maurice send people to come and take all her belongings, they jump in to make her feel a little better. They take her in for the night, go to the casino and drinking, try to get her mind off of things, and end up married. All three of them. Yup – you read that right. First Quinn and April get married and then immediately after, she and Austin do. and while it’s with the intention to get annulled in a few weeks, (after their month deal is over), you know that there are feelings involved and things are going to get dicey.

The bulk of this story is spend enjoying each other – we get the full expected flavor here from Ms Carew in the steamy scenes between this threesome. It’s hot and engaging and really helps take your mind off how bad April’s life can be. At the same time, we also watch April and Quinn better understand each other and Quinn’s hatred for what went down between them in the past seep away. Now that he understands her fears because of how she grew up, and understands why she walked away from him in college, his eyes are opened up to so many new things that he actually wants the arrangement that they have to be real.

Seems like everything will be perfect until Maurice comes back and begs April to take him back. Giving her back everything that he took away from her, compensating her for the past 24-48 hours of pain and fear. April doesn’t realize the motives behind it all but the guys realized quickly why he’s crawling back and it’s because she’s got something that he wants and is afraid that now she’ll have too much control over him. The problem though is that the guys see her with Maurice and make the wrong assumption, driving her to leave them earlier than their arrangement deemed fit and worlds come crashing down once again.

What we have form this story is the notion that there’s really no such thing as happily ever after and that sometimes the idea of ‘what happens in vegas stays in vegas’. You want more for everyone and yet you don’t know what’s possible and the only way to truly find out if anything was real or fantasy is to read this story and engage with them all. I think that you’ll enjoy this one for sure and i can’t wait to see what’s next from our author. Enjoy!

Overview

Kalie Terron
The man who kidnapped me has haunted my dreams for weeks. Hot sexy dreams of his full lips moving on me. Over my naked body. Touching me in soft, intimate places.

As my captor, he wore jeans and a casual shirt. I hadn’t known that the man who brought my sexual fantasy to life is a powerful, wealthy businessman.

Now I’ve tracked him down, determined to convince him to give us a chance.

I’ve seen his eyes with a dominating edge. I’ve seen them filled with passion. And even filled with an intense need that rivaled my own. But now those eyes are cold and detached, as if what the two of us shared was nothing to him.

But I won’t give up.

Erik King
Kalie wants a relationship. Flowers and candlelight. Soft words spoken in front of a fire. But I’m not a romantic kind of guy. I like my sex rough and hard. And I like my women soft and submissive.

Just because she enjoyed a fantasy about being abducted and forced to have sex with two men, she thinks she can handle what I want. She doesn’t get that what I enjoy is in a whole different league.

She seems intimidated by my status, which is good. I intend to take every opportunity to keep her off balance. For her own good, as well as mine.

Her unyielding determination tells me it will be difficult to convince her to back off. Thus, my only alternative is to use intimidation to scare her away.

So I will give her the chance she’s been begging for, confident that in the end, she’ll be begging to get away from me.

My Thoughts

As i was reading this 5th book in the series, i thought to myself that perhaps its the least favorite of mine for the little fact that there doesn’t seem to be that much for us to base the story in aside from knowing that there was some shared experience that they had together that make Kalie fall in love with Erik and him not with her.  It’s only after i read it that i now realize that there’s a prequel to the story that makes it seem like maybe i’ll get what i was looking for.

So back to this story – we meet up with these 2 after they have already had this shared experience, Kalie had this fantasy of being help captive and Erik and another man were the ones to fulfill that for her.  Through that experience, she somehow realized that deep down, aside from getting her sexual needs and desires handled, she had her emotions tied up in it and for a woman like her, that’s a tough thing.

What we have here is a quick novella of what’s happening now – after all that happened, where we see that Kalie’s trying to pursue something more, Erik completely understands her intent and isn’t interested since he’s nursing a broken heart of his own.  He’s willing to compromise if she’s able to fulfill a fantasy of his for a short time, and of course she’s eager to do so.

We spend a nice bit of time with them at a tropical location of sorts where there are others who are very much interested and deep into the lifestyle and of playing out captivity fantasies.  While this is completely outside of Kalie’s comfort zone, she trusts Erik completely and will do whatever he wants.  Since Erik’s battling his internal issues and demons over this, we know that he’s going to go back and forth between enjoying Kalie and putting himself in the captor role – so that means that we’ll get a real diversity in terms of the types of scenes and interactions that they have.

Where we net out of course is that Kalie falls deeper, Erik wants none of that, and they go home with kalie nursing a broken heart.  It was inevitable honestly, to see how that was going to end since he was clear on how he felt, but i think that how she deals with it and then how he deals with it from then, we get a resolution to it all.

All that being said, now i’m going to have to track down the other story that i gather tells me about how Kalie and Erik came together in the first place and maybe it’ll give me more context since i think that the ending of this story happened far too quickly.  enjoy!

Overview

Rachel Clark

How did I wind up in King’s bed as his sex slave? Being totally dominated by him?

It all started when King bought the company I work for. The last time I was out of work–after handing King my resignation–it took two years before I found another position and I’m desperate to avoid that situation again. So now I’ll do whatever I can to keep my job.

But, in fact, even with me submitting to his every whim, there’s no guarantee.

King says I’m difficult and never do what I’m told–which is true–so is this simply penance for past sins? Or if I prove I’ll follow his commands without question, will he keep me on?

I don’t know. And frankly, I don’t care. When I’m in his arms, all I care about is staying there.

Forever.

But that’s not an option.

James “King” Taylor

When I bought Bernier Electronics, I didn’t know Rachel was one of the junior executives. With our history, there’s no way I can keep her on. I need executives who will do as I say, not constantly question my every move.

I’d like to say it’s a difficult decision, but it’s not. Our past has proven she won’t fit in my management team.

But it’s never simple. When she worked for me five years ago, we had a clandestine affair. She insisted on keeping it strictly sexual, but I wanted so much more. When she left, I was devastated. Clearly, it meant more to me than it did to her.

The truth is I still want her in my bed. But I won’t hire her just for the sex.

She insists she can change, that she’ll do exactly as she’s told, but I know that’ll never work. Still, offering her the chance to prove herself–by becoming my submissive for an entire weekend–will prove to her it’ll never work. I never dominated her when we were together before, and the mere thought has me rock-hard.

I just hope I can handle losing her again after I experience the sweetness of her submission.

My Thoughts

So i was trying to figure out how this installment tied to the one prior and i’m not sure that it does unless it’s through Rachel’s assistant’s wife Sandy who was mentioned in the last one.  Regardless, what we have here is nice and steamy and quick to read as well.

As the summary says, Rachel is a junior exec at a company that was just bought and as all mergers go, lots of people get laid off.  She’s having one heck of a bad day when this news comes across and not only does she miss the announcement of this all happening, but she is then forced to go meet with the exec offsite.  Low and behold, it’s King – her old boss with whom she has a past with.

personally, i love seeing that distance doesn’t end things with people and that even when you know that what you’ve done in the past is a bad idea, you can’t help it when there’s insane chemistry.  King and Rachel see that they still have it from the start, even though they try to fight it just a little bit.  Because of Rachel’s bad morning of having a car accident, then resulting in a concussion, shes under Kings thumb again and sparks are flying everywhere.

We only truly spend a little bit of time with these guys, clearly seeing that they are beyond compatible in the bedroom but that they butt heads professionally since they are both incredibly smart and good at what they do, but what King isn’t willing to do is compromise his pride and ability as a boss to let Rachel continue on in any capacity for him in the company since that’s something that’s important to him.  Enter the offer of a lifetime – spend a weekend with him as a 24/7 sex slave and maybe that will turn into something for her in a job.

So where we go from there is also characteristic Carew where you can’t help but to picture all that they are doing, feel the heat between them as they are pleasing each other, and then wonder whether there’s any happy ending since it’s obvious that King will never let her come back to the company.  Where they go from there since he lives in Seattle and she’s in San Diego, along with the fact that work needs separate them is anyone’s guess but if you read the story, you’ll see how those paths merge or not.  Enjoy!

Overview

Chelsea spent the past ten years rebelling against Zane’s control. When her parents died, he became her guardian, controlling her trust fund and the company they shared. But hating the control he exerted on her did nothing to stop her from wanting him.

When she refuses to obey his summons for a weekend meeting, he cuts off her money, leaving her in a strange city with no way to pay her hotel bill. Forced to accept his help and join him at his country house, she soon discovers his intention is not strictly business. When she experiences his potent masculine domination she finds the reality of being with Zane far exceeds her fantasies… leaving her wanting more.

But can she surrender to this forbidden love and be mastered by her guardian?

My Thoughts

Oh how i do so love these quick reads when my day is kind of slow.  So in this 3rd installment we meet a new set of characters – unrelated but so interesting none the less.  We have Chelsea who is the owner of her own business but who has found herself somewhat controlled by her ‘guardian’ Zane.  Their fathers were business partners and when both of their parents passed away when Chelsea was 16, Zane (who’s 10 years older) was appointed her guardian and controls her trust and all things tied to that.  So once a year she’s forced to deal with him and the time has come this year to do it again.

The story that we are on here is one that’s of course expected but much hotter than that of the last installment.  I guess that’s what a bit of kink and BDSM will give you.  So Chelsea finds herself in Zane’s grips because he’s frozen her accounts so that she has no choice but to see him, and this all takes her from getting on a plane home to the house that he owns which she used to live in.

As expected, being forced into a house together will make things hotter and the fact that there’s clearly an attraction from each of them means that it’s just a matter of time and circumstances that we’ll see how it comes about.  Thankfully we don’t have to wait long, since we find that Chelsea sleep walks herself into his bed and from there, we see things progress quite quickly.

They spend a few days all wrapped up in one another and are forced into a lot of deep conversations where Zane wants to move things forward and Chelsea has to decide if that’s what she wants since she doesn’t want to be controlled.  Throughout this though we see some really hot play, a dungeon of sorts and well, you know waht comes with all that Sir and Master talk.  It’s really exactly what i needed i think.

The shoe here is about to drop though right? Cause we know that Chelsea has a business partner who seems to have other motivations both personally and professionally and then there’s the fact that Zane lives in New York and she lives in San Diego – so who knows what will work.  She ends up going home just to find her comp;any being ripped up from under her, with Bill and Zane becoming the henchmen, and we’re left with an ending that is not at all what we expected to happen.

Regardless of all that, it’s typical Opal Carew where you really can’t help but to keep reading since the chemistry and passion leaps off the pages and the fact that this was a novella makes it that much better since i didn’t have to read through too much other filler stuff to get to the heart of the story.  On that note – enjoy!

Cinderella meets FiftyShades. An erotic tale of love and lust in the office.

Kali goes to a masquerade party dressed as a sexy sub. She shouldn’t let her friend talk her into it, but behind the anonymity of the mask, Kali’s inhibitions fade away.

Ryan Blair has wanted Kali from the first moment she started working for him six months ago. So when he sees a stunning stranger in a mask and sub costume who could easily pass for Kali, he decides to play out the fantasy of mastering his sexy little secretary. Maybe that will alleviate his constant yearning for her.

When her wealthy, masterful boss takes Kali to the heights of ecstasy, not even knowing it’s her, things start to spin out of control. When Ryan figures out that she was his Cinderella sub, their days in the office become a roller coaster of passionate, mind-blowing sexual pleasure. But Kali quickly realizes that all there will ever be between them is sex and she needs so much more than that.

Should she walk away now before the pain of losing him becomes too much?

My Thoughts

I’ve clearly forgotten about this series and it’s a shame cause i think that one thing that Ms Carew does well is give us these short stories that pack a punch of anxiety, naughtiness and heat all with a bit of romance at the end if it calls for it.

In this 2nd book in the series we meet Kali who is really good friends with Serena from the first book and the secretary for Mr Blair – a man who she finds to be unbelievably sexy.  Kali and Serena are going to a costume party dressed to cause trouble and upon arriving, Kali finds that it’s not just a random costume party, but one where all the executives of their company are in attendance which makes it that much dicier.  especially since Ryan Blair in there and well, she’s definitely got an attraction to him.

This quick novella takes us on a whirlwind of a few days with these 2 – where starting from the party their chemistry explodes, of course though Kali is wearing a mask so Ryan doesn’t know that it’s her although he fantasizes that it is her because of course it works out that he’s also got a crush on her.  From then on, you know that their work relationship will be complicated as Kali knows what she did but Ryan didn’t.

If that weren’t enough, once the truth is revealed, they do take things up a notch and create a work sex thing – where you know someone’s either going to get into trouble or someone’s going to get their heart broken.  So it’s really a question of which will happen and who’s going to get the axe dropped.

The nice thing with these shorter installments is that you have a quick build and then a quick resolution.  While i think that the ending was a bit abrupt and likely far fetched in reality, i’m willing to go with it cause it’s what you would always want to see happen.  So on that note, i guess i’m off to track down #3 since apparently i’ve missed the boat on this series for a bit.

Overview

She’s always craved his touch…even though it’s forbidden.

When Ash is assigned her first feature as a reporter, it should have been simple: interview a real life Dominant for an article about BDSM. But her subject is none other than Darien Gallagher, her best friend’s stepfather…and it’ll be an interview she never forgets.

What started for Dare as a lesson in sensual domination suddenly has become so much more. He can’t deny the spark between them, even though he knows she’s completely off limits. With every seductive word, every lesson, Dare tests Ash’s resolve and pushes her boundaries. But at the same time, her boss Adam has her craving things she shouldn’t.

While Ash finds herself dreaming of both men, a dark secret threatens to destroy everything. But how can she hold onto a relationship that isn’t even real?

My Thoughts

I’m glad that i got the main version of the story so that i got both part 2 and part 3 to read through.  As you can see, i read through it fairly quickly since i just finished book 1, but it was such an interesting turn of events that took us through the story.

As you’ll remember, Helen had come in at the worst possible moment and threatened to make Ashley miserable.  I have to say that she seems unstable enough that i’d believe it.  So there’s the worry about what she’ll do following us through the book, especially since she seems to be getting closer to Jessica now that she’s back which puts Ash off balance.

Then there’s the issue with what’s developing between Ash and Adam, while at the same time there are feelings building between her and Dare.  So it’s a matter of when things will come to a head, and who’s going to win out.

Let’s just say that Ms Carew does the story justice.  With all of the character dynamics going on, there are still surprises.  The whole time we read through the story, we get the sense that there’s a bigger background between Dare and Adam that we don’t know.  When the story is revealed, it’s not at all what i was expecting.  then there’s the issue of who Ash will pick since she has to choose one, and will someone else make the choice for her?  you have to read to find out.

I’m happy to say that not only do we get this complex story, we get something that’s really hot and steamy.  She clearly knows how to write a scene that’s a perfect mix of D/s, and passion, and taking things just a little too far so that it’s dirty while being intensely hot and sexy.  Exactly what i needed while i’m dealing with my own relationship ‘stuff’ right now.

Anyhow, enjoy the rest of your day! !

Overview

I knew this story could launch my career, but I never thought it would lead me down a path of sin and decadence…bondage and submission. He was my subject; I became his slave.

Ashley’s first lead feature as a reporter should have been simple: interview Darien Gallagher, a real life Dom, for a magazine article and launch her career as a leading journalist, but with Dare, nothing is ever simple… Mysterious, wealthy, sexy as sin, and completely off limits, Ashley knows she shouldn’t crave his touch, his kiss, but she does. Even though he’s her best friend’s stepfather…

What started for Dare as a lesson in domination suddenly has become so much more. He knows Ash is younger, more sheltered, friends with his former stepdaughter, but he can’t deny the spark between them, even though he knows it’s wrong.

With every word, every lesson, Dare tests Ash’s resolve and pushes her boundaries. While Adam, Ashley’s boss, has her craving things she shouldn’t. The assignment that was supposed to land her on the top is about to topple her to her knees.

My Thoughts

I am a big fan of the series that Ms Carew puts out, not only for the characters and how dynamic they are but for the complexity of the passion and relationships that start off rather fast typically.  This is exactly that case.

While i picked up this first one of the series as a novella – i think that i’m just going to get the main book and read it through since i can’t wait to see what it’s about.  We have Ashley (Ash) who is trying to work her way up the ranks of the magazine that she works for and it’s when she has the idea to write a story about D/s relationships that things get dicey.  Then there’s Adam – the guy who was her brothers best friend, and who is now her boss, but there’s also this dynamic between the two of them both wanting to be together, but not making those moves for any number of reasons.

What is also really great about this story is that the Dom that Ash goes to, Dare, well he’s the ex stepfather of one of her best friends in high school – a girl that she hasn’t spoken to in ages because she fell off the face of the earth.  That shouldn’t make things problematic, but i think that it’s going to become an issue as we read on since nothing can ever just work out as it’s supposed to.

So in this first installment, we see the beginnings of Ash’s training since Dare feels that it’s necessary for her to experience more than be spoken to.  When things go to a more distinct level, that’s where emotions come into play and I honestly can’t wait to see how that plays out.  There is the relationship for the moment between Dare and Ash, but then there’s also the confusion of the Ash/Adam relationship that i wonder where it will go.

So…in 50 pages or so, we got a lot and it was hot, and i can’t wait for more.  Have a great day all!

Unable to let Dana slip away again, Mason bids on the one thing he’s always wanted–even if it is completely forbidden. He’s fantasied about having Dana to himself for years, touching her smooth skin, tasting her sweet lips. But Dana is off-limits…or is she? All it takes is just one kiss to find out…

My Thoughts

The finale that we’ve been waiting for – i think that it’s safe to say that we were all curious to see how things would end up given that Mason’s father was out for revenge, blood and well – Dana.

That’s not the focal point though for much of this third installment.  What we get here is Mason’s attempt to push Dana away by showing her what it is that he likes in a sub – and how much he needs more than vanilla.  what he doesn’t expect though is how tenacious Dana is and how far she will go to please him.

Throughout this final book, we get what Ms. Carew is great at yet again – the heat and passion, but the interesting bits of BDSM brought to the story line in a way that’s also very tasteful.  I think that there’s something to be said about showing the lifestyle in a way that’s very subtle but that still shows us that the people get what they need in their own way.

I think that as we go through this story, we keep wondering what’s going to happen next.  i mean, we know that Chas wants to take Mason down and also get his hands on Dana.  but the other question of course too is that Maria’s a wild card.  She’s got this past with Mason of course, and she’s married now to his father – but i feel like there’s still a pending twist.  I hope that we get to see that play out.

The struggle that they deal with though as a couple is that there’s a bit of a scandal that comes out with the media saying that Mason’s sleeping with his sister and no one wants to clarify that point.  There’s also the point that Mason’s going to protect her with everything that he has and that means sending her to Paris.  That distance can do horrible things to a couple, so it’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out.  And finally, the final chapter – where we see there’s a shift in power, the Dom becomes the sub.  interesting no?  On that note, it’s a great series and you should definitely check it out.  Have a great weekend all!

Review: Stepbrother, Mine (Stepbrother, Mine #2) by Opal Carew

No-Brainer

Title:  Stepbrother, Mine
Author: Opal Carew
Publisher/Year: St Martin’s Press 8/4/15
Length:  51 pages
Series:  Stepbrother Mine #2

Overview

Meet Mason. He is used to getting what he wants. The head of his own corporate empire, he has wealth, means, and no shortage of beautiful women ready to fulfill his every need. But despite having it all, Mason is bored. Until he comes face-to-face with a woman from his past—one who will do anything to get what she wants. But is her desire for Mason worth the risk?

My Thoughts

And the story continues – we are at a point where Dana has pushed Mason to the point that he’s going to give in to her, but at what cost.  And so we see how their feelings are still a point of contention, how they are obviously attracted to one another, but Mason will go to any length to keep her at arms length.

While expected and predictable, i think that there’s an element of depth to this story since we continue to get the flash backs and return to present day.  Things become clear as to why Mason left the house and why Dana felt rejected – and why she’s acting as she is.

Ms. Carew – our gifted author continues to keep us really interested in the heat and passion between these two, even when it’s taking quite some time to get ot the point where Mason fulfills the contract.  It’s not until the last few pages that we see things get interesting.  He calls her Sylvie – the name of one of his subs, which of course raises questions, and then there’s the reappearance of Maria – the maid that ruined everything back all those years ago.

The point where we’re left – well it’s a bit nuts.  While we expected to see the outcome a bit, i think that it’ll be even more interesting to see what happens since their worlds are going to get flipped upside down.  Dana’s professed her love and admitted that she’s more invested than she wanted.  Mason’s got an emotional tie to her, but won’t really act on it.  and there are all these outside factors that are about to wreak havoc on them.  on that note, i’ve downloaded #3 and i’ll have to dive into that in a little bit.
