Overview

Blake Walker left behind the ATF when the drug cartel he was hunting cost him the life of his fellow agent, and fiancee. Now, two years later, he’s working with his brothers at Walker Security, but he’s living fast, hard, and wild, until he reaches the ultimate high…revenge. And he’s close, so close he can taste it. He’s one meeting, one woman, away from being inside one of the money laundering shells the cartel operates.

One woman….
One dangerously hot night….

My Thoughts

Even though i read Blake’s story last week without this prelude, i think that i’m ok since we don’t really learn too much aside from the fact that Kara is Tiffany and that yes, she slept with him and drugged him.

The interesting thing here is that there’s just enough given to us to make us wonder who she is working for and what her motivation is.  It’s not enough that we know why Blake is there, that he’s supposed to hand over information to the cartel to blackmail someone, but the question arises who is Kara in all this and who is she really working for.  We never know, but we do see the beginnings of their amazing chemistry and connection.  So, onto the next!

Overview

Her enemy is her passion, her passion is her enemy…

Lindsey Paxton was once the number one defense attorney in New York. She fought for those who were innocent, but charged. Her instincts were her lifeline, never failing her, as they guided her in her choices of who to defend. Or so she thought. Until she won a case she would forever wish to have lost. Her client, an accused rapist, kills and rapes a woman only a day after being set free. Destroyed by her role in the woman’s death, Lindsey blames her father’s controlling ways for what she has become, and runs from her career and life. Years later – the past becomes the present . . . Her father has cancer, and Lindsey is forced to leave her career with the Washington branch of the FBI. She finds herself facing the responsibility of running her father’s law firm with the reluctant help of hotshot attorney Mark Reeves, a man who sparks her temper while also managing to tempt her heart, while setting her body on fire! With his help she finds herself fighting the emotional battles of the past, tempted to trust both him and her instincts. Now, faced with a case inherited from her father so similar to her career-ending one, she now must decide if her instincts will lead her down the path to saving an innocent man or setting free another killer. But while she fights her own battles, someone watches, wanting from the past what he had failed to get the first time . . . Lindsey.

My Thoughts

I don’t know why i didn’t read this one a while back, but at least i’ve fixed that.  We have the prelude to the series here, where we’re just meeting Royce Walker who’s the eldest of the Walker brothers.  In this first installment (or what should have been the first) we are focused on Lindsey who is a successful attorney yes, but who now works for the FBI in DC and has to come back to new york to take over her father’s law firm – the same one that she worked for and felt almost killed her from the inside out after she won a case that turned out to possibly be the wrong judgement.

So Lindsey has now been forced to take on a case at her father’s firm that’s quite similar (eerily so) to the Hudson case, the on that ended her desire to be in the courtroom, and with that comes the idea that she needs Mark Reeves to come back to the firm and take it over since he would have been groomed for the spot instead of Lindsey.  Of course, if that aggrivation weren’t enough (the issues between Mark and Lindsey’s father), you know that the sexual tension between leading characters will make it all that more interesting.

So throughout this story, we have the issues of the case to deal with – figuring out who’s behind the rapes and murders, while both Lindsey and Mark draw so many similarities between cases that it gets to be far more complicated than anyone expected.  Add on top of that the fact that they decide that they are super attracted to one another and act on it – which is nice – they don’t fight it for too long.  Add in an ex fiance who won’t take the hint that things are over, and has also found himself inserting himself into a situation that made the case that much more complicated.  And then there’s the ex partner and his new partner that cause a bit of calm but do they really?

I spent the entire time wondering who the killer was.  If Williams was the guy or not, and if not, who was it.  How safe was Lindsey since she looks exactly like all the victims and will Mark be able to protect her when she doesn’t want to be protected.  The twist at the end is one i didn’t expect and i think that’s impressive since i’m usually able to solve these things quickly.  Regardless, we have a nice story here that keeps you interested.

In True form of our author, we get some of the steamiest scenes between our leads – it’s so hot that you know exactly where these two stand and i couldn’t help but read more and more and more.  I love the way that this series was designed and i can’t wait to see what else comes of the Walker clan and the other guys. Enjoy!

Overview

Kyle, one the alpha men of Walker Security, is hot, bothered, and intense, and when Myla lands in his line of fire, she’ll soon learn her secrets, and her passion, belong to him, from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones.

Myla is beautiful, a dove with clipped wings, captive by the wolf, a vicious drug lord. One look into her eyes and Kyle could see the pain, the fear—the desperation. Or so it seems. He’s been fooled before by a woman and it cost him everything and everyone he loved. He won’t be fooled again.

My Thoughts

I loved where we ended up at the end of the last book, with Kara and Blake finding their own ‘happy place’ but of course there’s the question of what happened to Kara’s sister Myla and how into the cartel has she gone.  So that’s where we pick up in this 4th installment of the series, yet the beginning of a spin off

Kyle as you all remember is one of the best hackers out there, and part of the Walker Security family.  We know of him really just as being an amazing supporting character, but his role is always really important, and it’s nice to see him get his own story.  If you recall, right after the helicopter carrying Myla and Alvarez exploded, Kyle felt like something was up and saw some video footage showing more than met the eye.  Thats what started his year long quest to find Myla.

The other nice bit of this story is that we see how Myla ended up in the situation with the cartel and we get to see how she’s so much more like her sister than you’d ever know.  especially given how much Myla favors her mom while Kara favors her dad.

Throughout this story what we have is a lot of trust issues being settled and the wonder of when the other shoe is going to drop.  Kyle is hired on as a bodyguard but to whom he doesn’t find out until he’s into the conversation quite a bit.  He learns that its  to guard Myla and that means that things couldn’t get any better.  He’s not only found her, but he’s also put himself in a position to finish the vendetta that Kara and Blake have against Alvarez since Myla is ‘his woman’.

We get a mix of trust issues all around, between Myla and Kyle of course and then among Myla and Alvarez and then again with all the men that are part of Alvarez’s crew.  There’s so much unknown going on that you have to wonder who’s going to turn on whom and then who’s going to die.  I feel like we’re on eggshells throughout the entirety of the story since Alvarez is such a shady cartel king and i kept feeling like he was going to pop up at the worst moment and Kyle was going to be in deep shit.

In true Lisa Renee Jones form, the passion and chemistry between our leads is off the charts – they know that they are treading in bad space but they also know that what they have is real.  there’s the bit of Alvarez finding them out along with everyone else, and there’s also the fact that Myla is Kara’s sister, Blake’s wife and well, when word gets out, the men are none too happy.

The cliffhanger comes late in the story on this one, and there’s a kidnapping, a private jet taking them to locales non disclosed and the hope for a reunion that may never come.  Def a great story and i’m thrilled that both Asher and Jacob seem to have their own stories coming too.  they are also great supporting guys that we see more in Kyle’s book and i can’t wait to see what’s up for them.  Enjoy!

Overview

Blake Walker left behind the ATF when the drug cartel he was hunting cost him the life of his fellow agent, and fiancee. Now, two years later, he’s working with his brothers at Walker Security, but he’s living fast, hard, and wild, until he reaches the ultimate high…revenge against the King Pin that killed his finance. He’s one meeting, one woman, away from being inside one of the money laundering shells the cartel operates.

And then it happens. Their paths collide.

Two people meet who will do anything, including sleeping with the enemy, to avenge or save someone they love. But what if everything isn’t as it seems and the enemy isn’t the enemy at all? Can these two broken people drawn together by their sizzling hot attraction see beyond their pain and their need for vengeance Undoubtedly, they will face the ghosts of their pasts, but will those ghost destroy them or forever bind them?

My Thoughts

Now that i’ve rediscovered the series of the walker men, i’m so glad that we finally get to have Blake’s story.  The entire time that we’ve known these guys, he’s always been described as the ‘loose cannon’, living hard and working hard…playing hard even more.  All because of the death of his fiance at the hands of a cartel king.  its been his life’s goal to bring the guy down and now he’s finding his chance becoming much more real.  That’s where we spend this story – with him embedding himself into the organization of one of the king’s main guys and trying to get close enough to take a shot.

Of course, Kara, a wild card shows back up.  I didn’t read the prequel to this story about how they met, but we know that they have a past and her being in the office of the boss that he’s meeting makes things that more complicated.  it also makes his men very uncomfortable because they know that she drugged him, and that they were together.  So lots of unknowns.

Kara has her own vendetta.  we learn throughout the story that she’s got her own agenda – her own reasons for trying to break into the cartel as well and she’s going a bit rogue since we learned that she’s also tied to organizations that maybe wouldn’t be too pleased to learn what she’s up to.

Then we have to remember that it’s not just a dynamic plot that we get from Ms Jones, but instead, we also have to remember that there’s going to be some explosive passion, tension and heat coming from these two.  It’s even better since there’s clearly a love hate thing going on and that makes it so much hotter.  I think the way this relationship developed and how it continues through this installment makes things that much more interesting.  each has their secret that they don’t want to reveal and then their own pride is of course at stake as it always is.  So who will get shot, captured, lied to etc is anyone’s guess.

The bit that comes to a head at the end is what gives us a teaser into the first installment of another series spinoff.  We learn that Kara has a sister that she believe has been trafficked by the cartel and that’s what she’s searching for.  Once learning where she is and who she’s with makes is that much harder given their past, and when the sister Myla is taken away again, we see that Kyle, Blake’s tech guy is on it.  He’s found something otu that we aren’t quite sure what it is yet, and he’s on the trail to figure out how to solve that one to bring Myla back.  Which is where we are left, and i can’t wait to track down that series now so i can find out what kind of man Kyle is.  Enjoy!

Overview

Being a divorce attorney for the rich and famous isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Julie Harrison has learned that love doesn’t last, and she’s sworn never to make the same mistakes as her mother, or her clients. She uses the games men play to keep them at a distance. The only man who managed to break down her walls was Luke Walker, a Navy SEAL who loved her and left her, and changed her forever.

When Luke arrives back in New York, running Walker Security with his brothers and having left his Navy SEAL days behind, he sets his sights on Julie, the woman he’s always wanted and couldn’t have. Except, she runs from him every time he gets close.

But now, one of Julie’s clients, a powerful judge, gets involved with a dangerous cartel, and his soon-to-be-ex-wife ends up dead. Julie’s next on the list, and she finds herself on the run from those who believe she knows too much, and counting on Luke to keep her alive. In the deepest, darkest moments of the night, passion will bring them together while danger threatens to tear them apart. Can Julie and Luke trust each other and find their happy ending before they find … the end?

My Thoughts

I don’t know how i managed to forget to finish this series – it’s definitely one of my favs – especially since Ms Lisa Renee Jones is a favorite of mine.  So, here we are, back with the hot and sexy Walker brothers, and it’s nice to see that we get to have Luke’s bit of things.  The nice thing here as well is that there’s a history between Luke and Julie – and it’s a history that actually left the door open, so when they reunite again, on delayed flights in chicago, you know that it’s going to be hot.

Where this story takes us is on a roller coaster.  It’s not just wondering if Julie and Luke can make their 2nd chance work, but there’s also a life an death situation because of something that Julie’s been sucked into – through one of her clients.  She’s representing a judge for a divorce case, and things are getting dicey – the wife reveals that there’s something dark and dirty with the art that the judge collects, and then she’s found dead, and we see that there’s so much more to the story than what we originally thought.

A cartel is involved, some mysterious french guys are at the helm, and we don’t know how deep the judge is in, and why now Julie’s being targeted.

The bulk of the story that we have is determining whether Luke will allow Julie to help because she’s able and then of Julie allowing Luke to take control.  In true fashion of our author, we see that there’s some incredibly steamy control happening, both in and out of the bedroom and it’s hot.  i can’t help but get sucked in again and again, just like we did with Royce and Lauren as well as what we see in all her series.

Now i can’t wait to see what comes next with Blake’s 3rd installment since i feel like he’s the one that’s most troubled and finding a potentially happy place for him would bring this series to a great ending point.  So on that note, have a great day all!
