Title: Luke’s Revenge

Length:  218 pages
Series: Walker Security: Lucifer’s Trilogy #3

Overview

In the mind-blowing and stunning finale, all will be revealed as Lucifer’s forever with the woman he loves hangs in the balance.

My Thoughts

Well it’s fair to say that the description of this book really leaves something to be desired. What we do know though is that from the second book, we were left off knowing that people who were thought to be dead are alive, and that we don’t quite know who’s on which side of good vs. evil. What we do know is that we want to hope for the best here for Luke and Ana. We know that they want to be together but they have so many scars, so much scar tissue from the past that they aren’t sure what’s going to be the outcome.

What keeps this third and final installment moving is the quest to uncover the package that is being sought, and to determine who’s behind the request – who do they need to close this deal for to ensure their safety. There are thought and hypotheses but we don’t quite know for sure who it is and even the motivation.

Relationships are used against each other, family is thrown in Ana’s face as a means to an end, and we start to see just how tough she is and how she copes with things. What’s impressive in this story is that just like all the other Walker women, she’s secure, established, no nonsese, but she can be broken just like anyone else. That’s where Luke and Savage come into play – giving her a foundation and a touchstone to keep her cool.

They go on a wild goose chase. They’re given information that they want to believe yet are skeptical at every turn in the hopes of getting to the end of things. We watch as they get excited and then get let down, and then get hunted. All in the name of answering questions.

Add to all that stress the fact that they are trying to figure out what their relationship is, and taking whatever moments they can together to get back to the place that they were happiest. We want to hope that they can put the noise from the outside world, the demons from the past aside and solve problems.

What happens at the end of this story and series is the ending and culmination that we are all hoping for. We get to see who’s behind it all, we learn who’s on what side and we’re able to draw a line in the sand. All things that are necessary for closure and all the ending that this story needs. Is everyone happy and alive? Nope – but that’s not what we need here. We need anxiety, happiness, sexual tension and closure. So on that note, we get another saga in the Walker crew coming soon and i’m going to check that out. Enjoy!

Review: Luke’s Touch (Walker Security: Lucifer’s Trilogy #2) by Lisa Renee Jones

Title: Luke’s Touch
Author: Lisa Renee Jones
Publisher/Year:  Amazon Publishing 6/18/22
Length:  206 pages
Series: Walker Security: Lucifer’s Trilogy #2

Overview

She loved him. He betrayed her. Nothing is what it seems.

One touch can change everything though, and it did. The minute he showed back up in her life, all deals were off. He touched her and she melted. He promised her everything, and she wanted everything. The question is: is he her salvation or her destruction? Love. Hate. Passion. Danger. It’s about to get hot in here…

My Thoughts

I love Lucifer / Luke and I think being able to see what made him in to the man he is really helps add another layer to things. Add to that the story with Ana, well we have something intense, complex, and HOT.

We left off the first book with these two on the run, we know that many of the people around them are dirty and we don’t yet know who we can trust. There’s so much more of a mystery shrouding the whole situation with what it was that Ana’ brother was doing, as well as the resolution with her father, his business and everyone who’s connected to them. Walker is now involved and we know that they’ve got their back, but there’s always a question of who’s going to survive.

The chemistry between Luke and Ana is something that we have to struggle with. They are meant to be of course, but they fight each other on what the future holds since they both know that it’s not safe to be together. There’s really not future for them though that doesn’t include one another, so we get to watch how they combust, how they dance around each other and hopefully how they resolve to just be what they always were meant to be.

Throughout this second installment we fly all over the place, uncovering more secrets, questioning the motivations and motives around all the actions of the past, and really wondering if people who are said to be dead are dead. You know in these types of books, just like in all good soap operas, if you haven’t seen a body, the person isn’t dead, and even if you have, the person’s not dead. So that’s what we encounter after there are shoot outs, huntings and lies. Someone who’ deemed dead isn’t, and someone that we thought was on our side flips.

So, that means that we’re on the edge of a cliff again. Guns being pointed at everyone’s heads, and there’s a big question mark on who’s going to come out alive. There’s tension, heat and hatred, all wrapped up in the last few chapters here. So on that note, i’m now waiting for book three to come out and I hope you enjoy!

ARC Review: Lucifer’s Sin (Walker Security: Lucifer’s Trilogy #1) by Lisa Renee Jones

TitleLucifer’s Sin
Author: Lisa Renee Jones
Publisher/Year:  Julie Patra Publishing 3/22/22
Length:  200 pages
Series: Walker Security: Lucifer’s Trilogy #1

Overview

About the series: Tall, dark, and deadly, these men run Walker Security. Each is unique in his methods and skills, but all share key similarities. They are passionate about those they love, relentless when fighting for a cause they believe in, and all believe that no case is too hard, no danger too dark. Dedication is what they deliver, results are their reward.

Meet Lucifer, one of those men…

A man with demons that run deep and dark…

The only woman who can bring him to his knees…

As one of the newest members of Walker Security, Lucifer lives up to his name. He’s a man with demons that run deep and dark. A man with secrets. A man betrayed by a woman, and that betrayal has shaped every part of his life moving forward.

He lives on the edge with fast cars, faster women, and some might say a death wish. That is until he crossed paths with Walker Security and one of their own pulled him from the bowels of his self-created hell.

But his own personal devil is about to show herself again. That woman from his past is back, and nothing is as it seems.

My Thoughts

I must start off by thanking our amazing author Lisa Renee Jones and I think our friends at Netgalley for getting me this pre-read copy. Mind you, i’ve already pre-purchased it as well, so while I was able to get the first installment at gratis, i’ve still happily contributed to the revenue stream and the books success!

Anyhow, what we have here is nothing short of an INTENSE next installment to the Walker Security family. We have spent quite a bit of time with so many of the characters over the years, and what we get for Lucifer doesn’t pale at all in comparison to the others.

What we learn is that Lucifer has this past where he was in the military like most of the others, and he came out of it and tried to make something of his life so that he could cope with the demons that he gathered over the years. In doing that, his path crosses with our leading lady Ana – an FBI agent and a woman who was trained to be on guard from a young age at the hands of her stepfather. A man that has many enemies but the power to keep them at bay. He’s trained Ana to protect herself, to be on guard and to be able to take down any opponent, and its’ when she puts Lucifer to his knees that we see the world’s axis pivot.

One night is all that it took – she was reacting to a crime that was happening and Lucifer was in the same place at the same time. She doesn’t take chances, and forces him to the ground, and it’s not until he learns who she is. the stepdaughter of the man he works for that we know things will get interesting.

Sparks fly and we know that there is a happy ending coming for this couple, until the world falls apart.. cause that’s usually how things go.

Fast forward a few years and we’re back together with these two. Lucifer gets a call from a guy named Jake who he worked with – and Jake tells him that there’s a hitlist, that he’s running for his life and then the line goes dead. someone picks up the phone and tells Lucifer that if Lucifer doesn’t want Ana to be next, he better figure out how to protect her. So back into the past we go.

Lucifer needs to keep Ana safe and yet she wants nothing to do with him since we learn that he killer her brother. there’s more to the story of course but that’s what we know. So the heat and passion that these two shared before is something that we know we’ll have to deal with, especially with the hate layered on.

There’s so much back and forth with these two – the tension is insane, and yet we know that they both want to get past it, and just don’t know how. While that’s the under-current, we know that ti’s imperative that we find out who’s behind the hitlist, and what they want. There’s clearly someone that’s close to them that wants something from them but we don’t really know that whole story.

So where we net out is a place where we know Ana and Lucifer have been lied to, and we know that there’s an adventure ahead to uncover the secrets of the past. We hope that it will lead to more hot and sexy times between them and it’s inevitable because well…Lucifer is Lucifer and he’s HOT. I don’t know how i’ll be able to wait for the next installment to come out but somehow i’ll work on my patience. On that note, if you haven’t pre-ordered the book yet, do so, and it’s out on MARCH 22, 2022 so get your copy and let me know what you think! Enjoy!

Review: When He’s Wild (Walker Security: Adrian’s Trilogy #3) by Lisa Renee Jones

Title: When He’s Wild
Author:  Lisa Renee Jones
Publisher/Year:  Lisa Renee Jones 3/21/21
Length:  248 Pages
Series: Walker Security: Adrian’s Trilogy #3

Overview

The third and final book in a Walker Security trilogy featuring Adrian Mack…He was dirty, then he was bad, now he’s just plain wild. Like all the men of Walker Security, when he fell for his woman, he fell hard. Some might call his love for Priscilla a weakness, but you might as well call her a weapon. You hurt her, vengeance is coming and his name is Adrian.

My Thoughts

I was waiting long and hard for this final installment in Adrian’s story, knowing that there was so much uncertainty going on in both his life and Pri’s life. To quickly run back through the series, Pri’s the ADA who’s prosecuting Nick Waters, the king of the Devils, a motorcycle gang that killed, trafficked, raped etc etc. He’s in jail now, and Adrian is the star witness as he was undercover in the gag as part of an FBI sting. Pri’s slowly learning that more and more people that are close to her are ‘in bed’ with Waters, and that means that no one’s safe, and everyone has something to lose.

Adrian and Pri got closer than they should have, forming not just a physical relationship as a means to cope with what they’re going through, but there’s a deep emotional connection that’s blossoming as well. The challenge is that Adrian feels that his secrets will drive her away, and he uses that as a means to push her as far from him as possible. Lucky for us, she’s a bit stubborn and knows what his game is, and we watch how this plays out.

We start this third installment with Pri meeting her parents with the hopes of getting them under Walker protection and fleeing the country for their safety. Walker’s crew is outside the restaurant keeping tabs on her, while a few are inside as well to be close. When it’s Logan, Pris’ ex that shows up instead, we know that this isn’t going to end well. Logan threatens her again if she doesn’t drop the case, and then tries to rape her, when Pri uses the good advice that Adrian gave and shoots Logan in the foot.

From there, we’re on the run again, heading to New York now, the home of Walker. It’s a roller coaster knowing that theres a premium hit on both of them, and that means that no one is safe. We don’t know when someone’s going to come after them, and we can only hope that they have enough time to see the trial come to fruition. Of course, that never happens, and Waters is freed from jail…and that means that all bets are off.

We know that Pri wants to have the right thing happen, with Waters going to jail for good, but we also know that route means that they’ll never be safe since Waters has long reaching arms. Adrian wants him dead and that’s the road that we’re afraid to go down. On the other hand, Deleon, Water’s right hand man is still on the loose after he some how escaped from book 1’s shooting and he’ll continue to come after Adrian and Pri.

The roller coaster continues here, with Adrian doing his best to push Pri from his home, and it’s funny to watch Savage come into play in this story with his words of wisdom. We saw how Savage’s own life and relationship was overly complicated so we can only hope that his voice of reason is enough to get Adrian’s head on straight before it’s too late and more people die. It’s exciting, there are faked deaths and fights to the death, and how this ends up, and at who’s own hand is anyone’s guess. I hope you guys check this series out and enjoy!

Review: When He’s Bad (Walker Security: Adrian’s Trilogy #2) by Lisa Renee Jones

Title: When He’s Bad
Author:  Lisa Renee Jones
Publisher/Year:  Julie Patra Publishing 12/15/20
Length:  197 Pages
Series: Walker Security: Adrian’s Trilogy #2

Overview

He was dirty. That’s how Priscilla met him. She was all about just how dirty he was and, in fact, had to be. Now, he’s just plain bad. When you cross a man like Adrian Mack, you find out just how bad he can be. Priscilla started out as an enemy, became a lover, and now, she is his obsession.

Lies. Secrets. Enemies that appear they are friends. The passion and danger just won’t stop coming.

My Thoughts

No one is safe, and anything that was a secret before isn’t one now. Where Adrian thought he could be safe for a few moments turns out to be right on the radar of the assassins and now an FBI agent has been murdered in front of them, and they’re fighting for their lives. Deleon found them and that doesn’t bode well.

We start this second book off on such a roller coaster. Adrian and Pri are running for their lives again, literally. Now running to a secret cave that Adrian had as a backup safe house in case something compromised the safe house cabin that his father had set up all those years before. Adrian believes that his brother Alex, the dirty agent also in the Devils was the one who shared the cabin’s location but that means nothing especially since Alex is dead.

Walker comes to the rescue in a sense and we’re back at another safe house with Blake, Savage and Lucifer. They’re trying to come up with a plan that keeps Adrian safe and alive, while also protecting Pri and her entire staff. At the same time, they’re watching every move by Pri’s family since there’s a connection to Waters that’s unbelievable. Pri doesn’t want to believe that her family is involved, but it’s become clear that Logan, her ex-fiance is the one that brought her family into the fold and the one that that’s going to be the ruin of them.

Throughout this story we watch the relationship between Adrian and Pri grow stronger. They clearly have feelings for one another that outshines anything that they’ve felt before, and that’s also a problem since it makes them both a target. Pri’s afraid that it’ll compromise the case and that means another delay if they take her off the case or if there’s a conflict. Adrian’s worried that she won’t be alive to follow the case through and the Walker team have endless more concerns.

What we find throughout this story is that anyone that we thought was good likely isn’t. We’re forced to question everyone in Pri’s office and everyone who’s put themselves into that world since they all seem to be a bit suspect and a bit dirty. I”m excited to see how it plays out.

Along with all that angst and fear though, we get the expected chemistry and heat that I’ve come to know and love from our author Lisa Renee Jones. There’s a chemistry that’s almost desperate between them and it makes for some intense steamy scenes since they’re always afraid that the moment is their last. I really hope that something good will come out of the situation, but we all know that more people will end up dead before that happens.

Also, true to LRJ form, we now know that Lucifer will get a story and she’s introduced Mason, another Walker guy who will no doubt get his own story too. I’m excited to see how things evolve since this is one of my favorite string of series. Enjoy!

Review: When He’s Dirty (Walker Security: Adrian’s Trilogy #1) by Lisa Renee Jones

Title: When He’s Dirty
Author:  Lisa Renee Jones
Publisher/Year:  Julie Patra Publishing 10/27/20
Length:  200 Pages
Series: Walker Security: Adrian’s Trilogy #1

Overview

As a member of Walker Security, Adrian Mack has found redemption for a walk on the dark side. For two years the former FBI agent was undercover in the notorious Texas Kings biker club. For two years he changed, he became one of them and when the bust happened, he didn’t know who he was anymore. On a hitlist with a price on his head he disappeared and joined Walker Security, but now, the trial is set to start and witnesses are dropping like flies.

Assistant District Attorney, Priscilla Miller is tasked with the conviction of The King himself, and she’s passionate about taking him down, but her case is falling apart. She’s also in trouble, and while she resists Adrian, the sexy ex-FBI agent with a killer reputation, he and his team at Walker Security will become her lifeline, in more ways than one.

He touches her, she melts.
He shields her, she survives.

But everything is not as it seems. Friends are enemies. Secrets are really lies. And the one time in his life Adrian lets his heart do the thinking, passion might just be deadly.

My Thoughts

Every time we get a series about another Walker guy, I fall more and more in love with the crew. There’s a new person added to the mix every time as well, and that means that this series or series of series will continue for quite some time.

We met Adrian before, and we saw his campy sense of humor, knowing that it covered up some dark history. We were given his background of working for the FBI as well as knowing that he’s of a mixed heritage.with a bit of Latin mixed in. Gives him a bit of an edge with this crew and also primed him for the job that he had in the FBI and the reason that he’s hiding and now the star witness in a trial.

That trial is to put away the King Devil and being the star witness means that he needs to figure out who he can trust, who’s involved on what side, and who’s going to try to kill him and those close to him. As we’ve seen in just about every other Walker story, the main character doesn’t want to bring the Walker Family into the mix at all for their own safety, but we know by now that they truly consider each and every person to be family and they’re always involved. no matter what.

Pri, our leading lady has an interesting background as well. She’s the ADA in this case, but her past as an attorney for her father’s firm essentially had her getting the bad guys off, many of whom have ties with Waters, the man that she’s trying to put away for life. He’s dangerous, even more so than all the others that she’s defended before, but we’re not quite sure if she’s realizing the extent of what that means until Adrian comes along.

In true Lisa Renee Jones form, we have some really deep angsty characters and a story of hide and go seek with both knowing who’s on what side as well as knowing who’s the next target. We have to assume that everyone that seems clean is dirty, and that there’s going to be some type of surprise on who’s involved either on the side of good or bad.

In this first book, we know that we’re not going to get the resolution to anything, we’re not even going to know who’s on what side, but what we do see is that Pri’s past comes back in questionable ways. Clients that she’s gotten off are now appearing to get her to back off the case. Her ex-fiance makes an attempt as does her father. There’s a bit of confusion on whether the ex an the father are working together on this or if they are actually on different sides of the coin, but we don’t quite know that yet.

Adam, and Savage are back in this story as supportings along with a new guy Lucifer (which means his trilogy is coming soon i’m sure). We know that Adam is always the man of disguise and Savage is there for humor but also as a prime assassin. We can only hope that they’re able to uncover the information that’s needed to keep Pri and Adrian safe before it’s too late. And the last scene of the book shows us that there’s a leak, and perhaps they are too late.

I don’t know that I can wait another month for the next installment, but I suppose i’ll have to be patient. It’s hard, but i’m excited to see where this story goes. There’s a dead man who we kind of should have expected to die, and at the same time, we get the intense level of heat and passion that we always get in LRJ books. Pri and Adrian are combustable and i’m excited to see what comes next. Enjoy!

Review: Falling Under (Walker Security #3) by Lisa Renee Jones

Title: Falling Under
Author:  Lisa Renee Jones
Publisher/Year:  EverAfter Romance 3/1/18
Length:   214 Pages
Series:  Walker Security #3

Overview

Ex-special forces, Jacob King, is a man who keeps to himself, having learned the hard way that letting people close to you, trusting them, might just get you killed. A lesson he learned when members of his Special Ops team turned dirty, while others, men he considered friends, died. He made them pay. He made them hurt. He put them in jail. And so he doesn’t trust anyone anymore. He keeps his women hot and fast, his friends few to none, and his clients through the elite Walker Security at a professional distance, but safe.

It works for him. Until it doesn’t.

His newest job should be simple and cut and dry. Jewel Carpenter, the daughter of the CEO of Carpenter Enterprises, is receiving death threats. He’s to protect her and find out who is issuing the treats.

Simple. Cut and Dry.

Until it’s not.

Until the chemistry between he and Jewel is all about love, hate, and sex. But even as he fights the attraction to Jewel and discovers there is more to her than meets the eye, the real threat comes not from the threats she’s receiving, but the connection she has to him. Because his past has come full circle, and those men he’s made pay for their sins now want him to pay. And what better way than the woman in his bed?

My Thoughts

I love love love this series and getting to know the other parts of Jacob makes it that much more interesting.  He’s got his purpose and talents in Walker Security which we’ve seen in action before, and seeing him come to the help of Jewel at the request of her father, well it humanizes him a bit more.

Jewel is a mystery to us and that’s ironic since she’s a detective.  She’s doing what she loves in being in the force, following in the footsteps of her Uncle, but she’s also doing so against the wishes of her father – whom really feels that she needs to be doing something safer – something that doesn’t put her in the line of fire every day.

In this story – we have to wonder if it’s a recent action that’s put her in the line of fire or if its something from her past – something tied to so many other things that happened in her past that makes her unsafe.  We are brought along this journey starting first at a point 2 years in the past when Jewel’s uncle is laid to rest after being killed on the job.  She sees a man across the cemetery that gives her a bad feeling but she can’t quite pin it down.  Fast forward to seeing the same man in the shadows after leaving a note on her doorstep making her wonder what’s exactly going on.

We’re now 2 years later and learn that Jewels’ been receiving threats and in walks Jacob and the Walker men – set to protect her.  She doesn’t accept it without a fight and the journey that we’re on from here is funny, risky, filled with twists and confusion and of course the requisite heat and passion.

I think that it goes without saying that all the men who are part of Walker are damaged in a way that civilians would see as a bad thing but that those who have lived the life of danger and pain would see it as a good thing – a badge.  Jacob’s story is deeper than most – darker and twisted in ways that we didn’t know. and given that his whole existence is top secret, Jewel has her work cut out for her to find common ground.

Maybe that’s why these relationships work.  Jewel is a control freak and needs it yet being around Jacob means that she has none.  She cant find intel on him, and she can’t find the answers to the cases that she’s working on and maybe it’s easier to blame him for it all.  She knows that she’s in danger yet is too proud to allow anyone to get in the way to protect her.  There are hints along the way leading her from one person to another but each time we get a clue, i think that we all know that it’s a trap and fear for the outcome.

When we hone in on the Slayer, the man who’s stalking and taunting Jewel, if you didn’t think that Alpha Jacob was a 24/7 thing already, it’s more so now.  There’s a sizable twist when the identity is unlocked, and making that link back through time is one that i didn’t even really think about.  It’s really great to see how far back and complex Ms Jones makes our characters.

Then there’s the fact that there’s chemistry that they tried to fight for perhaps 72 hours.  Neither one was willing to cross the line on a job, yet there’s no way that they could have kept their hands off each other.  Jacob says its’ for her own protection but what we both know means that they are so magnetic that there’s no force that could keep them apart.  Until there is, and we see Jacob disappear, push Jewel away and basically exile them both.

There’s heat in this book, deep dark heat that’s a different tone than some of the others.  We have the same speed and progression of the story which makes it a thrill to read, but the way that these characters mesh is a little new and that makes is nice.  I feel like i want to read more and more about them since i don’t want their story to be done.  So, hopefully there’s a walker security #4 in the works….and Enjoy!

Review: Pulled Under (Walker Security #2) by Lisa Renee Jones

Title: Pulled Under
Author:  Lisa Renee Jones
Publisher/Year:  EverAfter Romance 11/28/17
Length:   214 Pages
Series:  Walker Security #2

Overview

He is blond, tattooed, and dangerous. She’s beautiful with a penchant for leather and lace and could be his destruction…

Asher wasn’t always a member of the elite Walker Security team, he was a billionaire’s son, who rebelled against his father’s controlling hand, and ended up in New York City’s underground of drugs, rock n roll, and danger. But that is long behind him, and while his tattoos and long blond hair remain, he’s now a chameleon, far more comfortable in a suit and tie than a leather jacket.

Or so he likes to tell himself.

But now Walker Security needs him back inside the underground club scene for a police case they’re working. Women are dying, and a new drug on the streets is the cause. When Asher is pulled back into this toxic world he meets Sierra, who is as beautiful as she is mysterious. A woman who calls to a darker side of him, long suppressed, unleashing it in what becomes wicked hot passion and obsession. But Sierra has a secret, one that leads her, and Asher, to a dangerous place, and game, with dangerous players, and the game is about life or death.

My Thoughts

I love this series and i can’t believe that i forgot that we had it in the list.  I read the first one such a long time ago but after reading just about every book that Ms Renee Jones comes out with and nods to the Walker gents, well i had no choice but to get sucked back in and i’m so glad that i was.

We get to know Asher a bit more and he’s always been a bit elusive.  all good reasons backing it, but still it’s intriguing.  Sierra enters the mix and she’s definitely more than we bargained for and i think that her mystery and her backstory makes this one of the more complex installments to the series.

Asher is working under cover trying to find enough evidence to nab an assumed serial killer, so we find ourselves in a grunge bar where he’s blending into the scene quite well.  He’s making great progress getting into the inner circle of our suspect when his world is turned upside down by the entrance of SIerra – a smoking hot bartender who’s not giving any information up and clearly is skittish about something

And so it begins – this journey that we go on with them, where Asher of course dives into Alpha Male mode and wants to protect Sierra from whatever her ghosts are, dig under her skin to get in her head and do something about the intense chemistry that they have.  Sierra wants none of that of course since she’s been on the run for 9 months and isn’t’ willing to let anyone get hurt or pull in the line of fire because of her.  She thought she was safe but clearly that’s not the case.

There’s so much more going on than meets the eye here – it’s intense because a story line that follows a serial killer is exciting enough but we learn that Sierra was married to  a man that she calls The Beast, who is connected, powerful and a Billionaire so he has the means to silence and control her.  All she wants is out since she knows that he’s a bad person who’s killed others and wants to kill her for knowing too much information, but she won’t let Asher in far enough to know who the beast is and how to stop him.

Written in true fashion of our author, the story is fast and intense and amazing.  There are so many twists and turns throughout that by the time we get to the end, and the unexpected happens, it’s overwhelming to the senses in a good way and (and maybe a bit bad) that we can only hope those we love don’t end up on the wrong side of things.

Asher’s backstory with his father comes to a head in this book – we knew that they didn’t end things on good terms, that he became a SEAL to get out from under his father’s thumb, but that also helped him truly understand Sierra more than she even realizes.  sierra sadly was naive to things when she met The Beast and as a result, she’s mixed up in things that no one should ever deal with and there’s no safe way out.

Blake and Kara play a huge role in this book, Kara again using her FBI skills to be a decoy.  Royce comes in and out. the other strong burly men are core to the story, letting us know hints here and there about who will have the next installment of the series and how it has potential to end up.

Heat, passion, chemistry, fear, manipulation, lies – all that and more are in this 2nd book of the series and i CANNOT wait to see what comes next.  Enjoy!

Series:  Tall, Dark, and Deadly #4, Walker Security #1

Overview

Kyle, one the alpha men of Walker Security, is hot, bothered, and intense, and when Myla lands in his line of fire, she’ll soon learn her secrets, and her passion, belong to him, from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones.

Myla is beautiful, a dove with clipped wings, captive by the wolf, a vicious drug lord. One look into her eyes and Kyle could see the pain, the fear—the desperation. Or so it seems. He’s been fooled before by a woman and it cost him everything and everyone he loved. He won’t be fooled again.

My Thoughts

I loved where we ended up at the end of the last book, with Kara and Blake finding their own ‘happy place’ but of course there’s the question of what happened to Kara’s sister Myla and how into the cartel has she gone.  So that’s where we pick up in this 4th installment of the series, yet the beginning of a spin off

Kyle as you all remember is one of the best hackers out there, and part of the Walker Security family.  We know of him really just as being an amazing supporting character, but his role is always really important, and it’s nice to see him get his own story.  If you recall, right after the helicopter carrying Myla and Alvarez exploded, Kyle felt like something was up and saw some video footage showing more than met the eye.  Thats what started his year long quest to find Myla.

The other nice bit of this story is that we see how Myla ended up in the situation with the cartel and we get to see how she’s so much more like her sister than you’d ever know.  especially given how much Myla favors her mom while Kara favors her dad.

Throughout this story what we have is a lot of trust issues being settled and the wonder of when the other shoe is going to drop.  Kyle is hired on as a bodyguard but to whom he doesn’t find out until he’s into the conversation quite a bit.  He learns that its  to guard Myla and that means that things couldn’t get any better.  He’s not only found her, but he’s also put himself in a position to finish the vendetta that Kara and Blake have against Alvarez since Myla is ‘his woman’.

We get a mix of trust issues all around, between Myla and Kyle of course and then among Myla and Alvarez and then again with all the men that are part of Alvarez’s crew.  There’s so much unknown going on that you have to wonder who’s going to turn on whom and then who’s going to die.  I feel like we’re on eggshells throughout the entirety of the story since Alvarez is such a shady cartel king and i kept feeling like he was going to pop up at the worst moment and Kyle was going to be in deep shit.

In true Lisa Renee Jones form, the passion and chemistry between our leads is off the charts – they know that they are treading in bad space but they also know that what they have is real.  there’s the bit of Alvarez finding them out along with everyone else, and there’s also the fact that Myla is Kara’s sister, Blake’s wife and well, when word gets out, the men are none too happy.

The cliffhanger comes late in the story on this one, and there’s a kidnapping, a private jet taking them to locales non disclosed and the hope for a reunion that may never come.  Def a great story and i’m thrilled that both Asher and Jacob seem to have their own stories coming too.  they are also great supporting guys that we see more in Kyle’s book and i can’t wait to see what’s up for them.  Enjoy!
