Overview

I was standing at the bar and waiting for a friend when it happened.

When my life changed forever.

She strutted inside with her head held high with grace, not pretentiousness. With legs that reached her neck, and an hourglass frame perfect for gripping, she got me hard instantly.

And those green eyes got the rest of my body hard too.

Mistaking me for the man who cheated on her friend, she walked up to me, those green eyes burning with fire, and she slapped me so hard my skin bubbled.

And damn, it felt good.

She slapped me two more times, using her petite size to gain momentum as her palm crushed into my skin.

I never wanted it to end.

I’d never met a woman who made pain feel so good. I’d never met a woman as strong as myself. I’d never met a woman I wanted to dominate more.

I’d never met a woman like her.

Rome Moretti.

My next submissive.

My Thoughts

This is a very dynamic story that we’ve entered into, with so many twists and turns of uncertainty that i think it’s going to be great. We start this story with our mains, Calloway, a Dom and a man who knows exactly what his tastes are and has determined that he’ll never compromise. That is until Rome walks into a bar one night and he can’t think of anything else ….ever.

The journey that we go on with both of these characters is a tough one. They have their haunted and tortured pasts that have made them into the people that they are today, with walls up, a need for control and independence yet still with so much passion to give that even they don’t know it.

Cal is an interesting guy – he’s the premier humanitarian worker in the city, prob further reaching than that, but that’s his public persona. He and his brother also own one of the most elite BDSM clubs in the city and that’s where his tastes edge to the darker side. This however is something that may become a challenge now that he’s obsessed with Rome.

Rome on the other hand is a woman who’s got this innocent quality but she’s also so powerful and can own a room when she walks into it. She’s a mystery sine Cal isn’t able to pull any background information on her, but he’s able to find that she’s also in the same humanitarian category as he is with her own company that’s doing quite well.

When they cross paths in a bar, their lives are changed forever but they don’t both know it yet. It’s not until they cross paths at a charity gala that things really take a turn. The story from here is intense, it’s hot and it’s filled with so many secrets that you want to uncover them all even in between all the chemistry and passion that they share.

Rome makes him wait, Cal gives her control, and all the while, they are keeping major bits of information from each other that will likely impact their future…if there is one. I can’t wait to dive into the next book now! Enjoy

Review: Husband (Betrothed #2) by Penelope Sky

Title: Husband
Author:  Penelope Sky
Publisher/Year:  Penelope Sky 12/10/19
Length:  188 Pages
Series:  Betrothed #2

Overview

Two years of bitter loneliness have passed. The woman I love is now the woman I hate. I lose myself in beautiful women every night and tell myself that fortune reading was nothing but a scam.

But then her mother asks me to marry her.

I say yes.

Now this woman will be mine forever.

Maybe the prophecy really is true. I’m committing to a woman that will never love me in return.

But it was better to be her husband than allow someone else to take my place. It was better to conquer her body every night than be lonely with someone else.

Much better.

My Thoughts

well, i love all things that our author Penelope Sky writes so this second installment to the series featuring Hades and Sofia is at the top of my lists for great ways to start of 2020. There was such a connection between these two characters from the moment they met with Sofia was just a teenager, that to see it blossom in book one was amazing. And then it crashed and burned.

So we pick up their story in book 2 where there’s still such hatred between this couple. Sofia feels blindsided by what Hades truly does for work, and the fact that he paraded another woman in front of her was too much. Hades however has such intense feelings for her still, to the point of pain and when Sofia’s mother pushes the idea of marriage at him again, well, he jumps.

The journey that we go on in this second book in an interesting one. there’s the need to build some type of foundation here between the two of them sine Hades wants Sofia on the same page as him, even if it’s almost impossible. She wants to find happiness, but also is 100% opposed to the notion of love. She doesn’t trust easy, but she finds that the fact that he has such respect for her to be something that could go in the direction of strong feelings.

Add to that story Damian, Hades best friend that we met in the beginning of book 1. The same friend who was at the fortune teller in Morocco and who has a huge stake in everything that goes on in their business, which inevitably turns into a quest for too much power and greed, which results on catastrophic events happening from there. There’s a kidnapping, a bit of torture, and Hades is forced to make tough choices about his future.

Then add to that Hades need to figure out a way to prove the fortune teller’s premonition wrong which results in even more struggle and stress. What we do get from this though is the introduction of Ash (a name that i feel like i’ve seen in other Penelope Sky books), Hades’ brother, and a man who i believe will come in handy at some point.

We’re left in this story at a point where there’s been a huge betrayal and now there are consequences to those actions. One person’s choice has led us to the kidnapping of another person and we really don’t know yet how this will all play out.

If that story and plot line wasn’t enough to keep you engaged, we get what’s become to be something that i expect and crave from Ms Sky – the intense connection that she’s able to share and create for our main characters – something that makes you feel the passion and heat even when it doesn’t seem ideal. And to see the potential for romance and something deeper when they don’t believe it themselves.

Luckily i only need to wait until next tuesday to continue on this journey with some of the best characters.

Review: Delight Me (Stark Ever After #6.4) by J Kenner

Title: Delight Me
Author:  J Kenner

Length:  40 Pages
Series:  Stark Ever After #6.4

Overview

There’s one special gift Damien wants to give his wife Nikki and their daughters for Christmas… but with a storm approaching and time running out, can he make it home in time for the holidays?

My Thoughts

So i think that the description for this book isn’t the right one, but we’ll leave it at that. What we have here is the sweet novella that links us back to the days before the Brussels conference that we remember Nikki participating in for her tech business. That was around the same time that the Cortez development got green lit, with Jackson at the helm, but if i recall correctly from back in the main series, i don’t know that we knew the link between Jackson and Damien yet.

Regardless, the scenes that we have between Nikki and Damien in this novella are TRUE TO FORM for what we have always come to love and expect from the couple as well as how our amazing author J Kenner writes them. There’s a bond and connection between them that surpasses anything that you could imagine. They don’t need to talk to be in sync, they rely on each other to survive but in a romantic sort of way.

Nikki has nerves over her presentation but wants to prove herself as her own woman, and Damien is a powerhouse in the industry that can give her help if she wants it. She gives him the freedom to make suggestions and together they create something amazing.

Add to that bit of the story, we get the usual romance, chemistry, intense passion that we can’t live without. The way that they come together in every scene is so hot that it requires a cold shower after reading, and it makes you wish that you could have that in the real world too. I think that i’m damaged forever in hoping that i could find my own Damien. Oh well. So, on that note, enjoy this short novella (i’m sure i got some odd looks on the subway this AM while reading it since it’s so steamy in places) and we’ll be back with the next book soon!
